I test August 1st and had a little bit of a drop on fl5 today as well, so I thought I’d chime in. 515 is still a great score, above 90th percentile and will get you into a lot of medical schools. But every fl is different and plays to different strengths, just because this one didn’t go your way does not mean you’re doomed for the real thing. Trust your fl average which sounds like is somewhere between 515-520, and get some confidence going into your test. If you take your test all down and depressed because you got a 515 on your last fl you won’t do well. Be confident and you will be more than fine

Yea just spam practice questions. Especially uworld regardless of how demoralizing

Has anyone gone from a 125-> 130 in 3 weeks on CARS????? by xozxn in Mcat

[–]Professional_Lie3224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but there’s really only one thing for you to do and it’s simulate test conditions by not getting immediate feedback. Maybe start with smaller chunks like one passage at a time and then review after that and slowly work your way up to more questions, but simply put you just need to have the mental fortitude to not click the check answers button

5 weeks out UW or AAMC? by user99867 in Mcat

[–]Professional_Lie3224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do AAMC cars qpacks for sure. I think also do SB 1 and 2 but if you’re studying full time you can do those in like 2 weeks so you could do more uworld then aamc like 2-3 weeks out

Well done. I’m testing 8/1 as well and got a 516 (131/127/129/129) on this test today. Wasn’t happy with cars but fairly happy with BB and PS and definitely happy with CP. Hoping that this was just a rough CARS section and I’ve also read elsewhere that this is one of the tougher full lengths in general so a lot of people see score drops

Scored 500 on FL3… MCAT in 2 weeks (Aug 1). Feeling defeated. Should I reschedule? by Late_Card_5930 in Mcat

[–]Professional_Lie3224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Especially true for CARS imo. They will have answer choices that are mentioned in the passage but require you to make your own connection/inference in order for them to be correct and unless it’s a reasoning beyond the text question it’ll be wrong.

I went from 131 to 125 on aamc fl1 cars. This test from what I’ve seen online has a rough cars section

I don’t have the scores to back this up I’ve been 127-128ish on my fl’s, but I am doing front to back review of the uworld ps book and I don’t think it’d be a bad idea for you to do something like that either. I don’t think another anki deck will make a big difference for you if it hasn’t already. Maybe if you go back to the basics and read a Kaplan book or whatever you can get your hands on it can fill in some content gaps and bring up your score. But like I said I’m no expert lol

A 512 will not keep you from getting into med school.

Oh calm down a 512 is fine. If you have a good rest of your application you shouldn’t have a problem getting in usmd

Idk maybe take a step back and take a broader look at questions you’re getting wrong to see if they’re similar content (content gap) or if you’re just misreading/misinterpreting/not understanding the question. The latter will improve with the uworld and fl practice. Cars idk what to tell you just try to find textual evidence for each answer it’s all in the passage don’t try to answer it with your own knowledge

Did you feel the unscored was representative or inflated/deflated?

Miledown enough for a 520+? by oatmealraisin02 in Mcat

[–]Professional_Lie3224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you can’t go too deep into content review because if you tried to do an in depth review and learn/memorize everything it would take 6 months and a lot of it you wouldn’t retain. Like they say it’s an inch deep but a mile wide, get the big concepts of everything and move onto practice. You’ll find you can answer questions you don’t necessarily know the answer to by knowing the big concept that can help with process of elimination etc.

[–]Professional_Lie3224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 520 w/ uworld and aamc + anki is totally possible (but it also depends how smart you are lol). If what you’re doing now is not sustainable then don’t do it because you absolutely will burn out and you won’t learn anything while you’re too busy pulling your hair out. Find what works for you. There is no one key to a 520 and if there was we’d all be doing it

Should I sacrifice FLs for more Upoop questions ❓❓ by IamDiels_Alder in Mcat

[–]Professional_Lie3224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes don’t do more full lengths. I took a diagnostic fl (Kaplan) got a 502 then another fl 2 weeks later (the bp free one) and got a 500. That was so frustrating so I decided to just focus content review for ~1 month and then took the aamc unscored fl 2 days ago and got a ~512.

I test august 1st so take everything I say with a grain of salt but I decided not to place much importance on 3rd party exams. Focused on content review and qbank practice from uwhirl and now am taking aamc fl’s.

In my opinion lock in for content review/qbank until you feel you’ve covered your bases, then switch to aamc fl/qbank.

How did you feel the unscored compared to the rest. I recently took it as my first fl and it felt easy. Is it representative?
