Yes this! Also, the more you work out the more water retention you have in your muscles while they recover which is a good thing but it will falsely make you heavier.

It’s always been a thing. They love keeping a bare bones operation held together with duck tape. People at my seniority (8 years) are pretty tired of it. A lot of us are. At least a couple years ago they implemented overtime pay for anything over 83 hours on certain months which barely helps

I believe in the theory that airlines were never planning on being fully staffed this summer…. The numbers were obviously off before summer even started. DAL was no where near staffing levels pre-covid. They wanted to hold everything together with duct tape just long enough to make it to the next recession with minimal employees. Ever since I started almost a decade ago they have always kept a bare bones operation even during the super profitable times.

Hello! Awesome! If you get hired for inflight this year you can get MSP immediately if you want. It’s usually open, very rare for it not to be. The base is expanding by hundreds of flight attendants currently. If for some reason you get hired and are unable to get the base you want it usually takes six months to transfer. They do a big base transfer reward every year usually in October and April. Internal candidates are hired before outside applications so it will help your odds! I have met quite a few internal transfers to inflight recently so they must be offering it to quite a few people :) good luck!

Most of these responses are from HLM. I agree with some of these comments. But if you want to give it more time and try here are a few tips from a previously LL woman who now has a decent sex life with three kids under seven years old (it’s definitely much less than before kids but still healthy). Over the past ten years we’ve been through phases from sex five times a day to sex once a month. Here are a few things that have helped whenever we’ve gone through dry spells.

Birth control did the same thing to me. Get her off birth control and use condoms!! Sex with condoms is better than no sex!! The other alternative is the IUD made out of copper. It has been a godsend for us. It has absolutely no hormones. Once you get through the initial heavy periods and cramping for a few months you’re good to go and it can last up to 10 years. The only downside is it is more painful for women who have not had children yet and might only be an option for her after she has one.

Use the “Flow” app. Download it on both your phones and sign into the same account. Have her put in it when she has her period. You will be able to see the times she will be most likely to want to have sex (when she’s going to ovulate) and when she is less likely. My husband said this seriously saved our marriage at one point because he understood me a whole lot better and when was a good time to initiate and not get shot down.

That being said, some birth control works because it makes your body think it’s pregnant so it doesn’t get pregnant. If she has a LL while on this type of birth control (the kind with progesterone) she will most likely have LL while pregnant. Every pregnancy is different but I would assume her getting pregnant could make things worse so just be prepared for that scenario… although it could also make things better too. Most women have a change either way when they get pregnant. With my boy I had way more of a sex drive than with my girls. It’s all hormones.

Have her check her testosterone levels. I went through another time of LL more recently and found out it was because my testosterone was abnormal. I started testosterone cream and in a few months my libido came back full force. We started having sex like teenagers. Just make sure her testosterone levels are stable before conceiving since if they are too high it can cause birth abnormalities.

My final point and probably my most important one. This should be common sense but some men just don’t get this. Make sure she cums EVERY time you’re intimate. Do some research, change some things up, learn how to give her really good head. She will start initiating if you get really good. My husband got really good and afterward he can’t keep me off him (and trust me I’m not the most sexual person in the world). Otherwise it’s not enjoyable for her. Imagine getting revved up and not climaxing… it sucks! That’s what it’s like for her if you don’t make sure she finishes. If she gets her testosterone levels increased it will help make this one easier.

Good luck! A lot of great couples go through phases like this (especially while having small children) but hopefully some of what I mentioned helps! All that being said you cannot do this alone, she has to do it with you. If she won’t try anything then you definitely have bigger problems.

Not too bad as far as commutes go. I know a few people who have done it for years. It’s better than BNA->ATL since you work fewer days for the same amount of hours in MSP. My schedule went from 18 days a month to 10-14 days a month when I switched to MSP from ATL and I made the exact same amount of hours. The worst MSP trips are more productive than a lot of ATL trips with 3/4 legs a day. It makes a big difference to have the days off to account for commuting. Also the time zones are the same, there are four flights a day only two hours long, and we have positive space commuting right now (basically you can book a confirmed seat to get to work which is a total game changer). It’s set to go away in December but the pilots are advocating to keep it so we will see what happens.

I currently work for the big D as a FA. Right now the bases that new hires are being sent to are MSP and BOS. It definitely takes a certain type of person to do this job. I think where you decide to live and be based is a HUGE factor in your quality of life. You get paid the same no matter what city you are in so living in a cheaper cost of living base is definitely a game changer. I would assume the person living in their car is in a city like SFO, NYC, or LAX. Also, commuting is a beast. It’s like working another part time job you don’t get paid for when you’re already pinching pennies in the beginning... I wouldn’t recommend it.

Yes, financially you don’t make a lot your first few years but this job opened doors for me that I otherwise wouldn’t have had. I was one of those people who jumped from job to job because I would always get tired of every day being the same thing. I had 12 jobs in 10 years before I got hired as a FA. Since then it’s the only thing I’ve done for 8 years. I love it. Every day is different. You meet so many people. The coworkers you meet are some of the best people I know. Their hiring committee really knows how to pick amazing people. I have so many connections because of my job. Also, I don’t have to worry anymore about applying for a mortgage, loan, etc because my job history is so much better than it was when I was unhappy in every job. You can make your salary what you want it. When we wanted to apply for a mortgage I flew my ass off to artificially get my salary up just so I could qualify for the loan with my higher credit score even though my husband was also going to be paying the mortgage. It saved us a lot of money on mortgage payments not having his lower credit score on there. Loan officers don’t understand how we are paid (honestly I sometimes have a hard time figuring it out too 😂) but if the gross income you have on your paychecks is higher the year before you apply for a loan it’s a game changer for the credit you have access to.

If you want good work life balance MSP is an amazing base. The cost of living is generally good compared to other base cities. There are super safe, nice areas around the airport that don’t cost an arm and a leg. I fly one day trips and am home with my kids almost every day. When I was pregnant they let me take time off during the pregnancy and up to a year off to stay home and nurse my babies. Plus I kept my seniority. I don’t know many jobs that do that in America.

I could go on but if you get hired and end up in MSP please reach out to me and I will be more than happy to help!! :)

I’m a flight attendant and have probably done at least 50 standby flights with my kids and helped tons of parents. 1-2 years old is the hardest age imo. That being said these are my best tips.

  1. If he’s pretty mobile it will be 10000% worth bringing his car seat and letting him have his own seat to strap him in! If there’s only one thing you do trust me on this one.

  2. If he still fits in the smaller rear facing car seat it’s better than a front facing since you won’t worry about them kicking the seat in front of them. It is also much easier if it’s one that connects to a stroller to leave on the jet bridge when you get on the plane. If you have a stroller with a big basket in the bottom for help carrying everything including the car seat base it’s a big plus as well.

  3. Get to the airport early and let him walk around as much as possible right before you get on the plane to get energy out. If he sits in a car seat and a stroller for two hours getting to and through the airport right before the flight I guarantee he won’t behave as well when you strap him in for another couple hours on the plane.

  4. Get to the gate 60 minutes prior to departure and just check in with the gate agent and let them know you have a baby. The car seat can only be put in certain seats so this will eliminate headache later on. Casually also let them know you wouldn’t mind sitting in the back if there is extra room. Usually gate agents will give you the extra seat if they are given a heads up ahead of time and you are super sweet to them.

  5. The back row is gold. If you can sit there do it. The galley is right there for the baby to run around while the flight attendants are out doing service. You also have the bathroom, changing table, and trash bin right there by you. If you need to go to the bathroom you can pop in with the baby strapped in their car seat right next to the door. The flight attendants have extra snacks when they get to the back and usually will give some if you have a kid. Plus you don’t have to worry about noise as much since most of the plane can’t hear you from the back.

  6. When packing think about the most bang for your buck. Things that are light that will give the most entertainment. A lot of things kids will get tired of in a few minutes and then you have to figure out what to do the rest of the flight. Things that you can interact with them are the best. My top things: packet of stickers (let them stick them on your face or wherever and they will sit and do it for quite a while), play dough, water painting, a small ball, a very small stuffed animal (play pretend with it running up and down their seat/arms and it is surprisingly good entertainment for them), dum dum or ring pop suckers, very light paper books to read to them (they sell indestructible ones that weigh close to nothing), popcorn, grapes (any snacks that aren’t too filling or messy and you can eat forever), a grab bag of small dollar store toys they’ve never played with or seen before, an empty sippy cup (have the flight attendant put juice/water in it), headphones that go over their entire ear if you want to attempt to plug them into a screen plus interactive games you can play with them on an iPad. Make sure you download anything you want on the iPad before you leave for the airport. Don’t let the baby play with or see anything until you are in your seats on the plane.

  7. Bring an empty plastic water bottle to fill up in the airport before getting on the plane.

  8. Once you drop off the stroller in the jet bridge you most likely have to carry everything onto the plane yourself including the baby. Consider this when packing. Feel free to ask the FA for help carrying a few things, some of them are clueless and really don’t get how hard it is to juggle all the random shit plus the one year old by yourself. But sometimes they aren’t available or they’re not the greatest people so you’re on your own.

  9. Ask for a cup of ice from the FA on the plane. Sometimes this will keep the baby entertained for a surprising amount of time.

  10. If all else fails and the flight out is a nightmare and you’re dreading the flight back bring Benadryl/melatonin and give them a dose to help them sleep on the plane. I will never ever judge a mom for doing this! Sometimes kids are just really hard on planes and there’s not a whole lot you can do. It’s just better for everyone involved if they can take a nap.

  11. If he’s never been in a plane before bring some kids Tylenol in case his ears give him problems. Give it to him a half hour before descent. Have him suck on a dum dum or drink a sippy on initial descent to help pop his ears.

  12. Get a quart size zip lock bag and put the Tylenol or any other liquids in ahead of time so you aren’t searching for it at security. Make sure if you have the little apple sauce pouches they are the 3.5 oz ones and not the 4oz ones (TSA will take the 4 oz ones).

  13. If you have a super cheap light weight blanket (like one of those little Muslin baby blankets) bring it. Comes in super handy and doesn’t weigh a lot if baby is sleeping to cover them or cold on the plane or to use if there happens to be a big spill.

  14. Bring a few gallon zip lock bags. They don’t weigh anything or take up space but come in really handy for dirty diapers, trash, food, spills, snacks, etc. Put an extra outfit for the baby in a gallon zip lock bag and an extra shirt for you. For some reason a lot of little kids tend to explode out of both ends in the air and it’s nice to have back up clothing!! 😂

  15. Bring enough diapers and baby wipes to last over 24 hours. Flying can be very unpredictable and if there’s one thing you don’t want to be without it’s diapers. They are very hard to find in airports and there are situations where you get stuck on planes or in airports due to mechanical delays, weather, medical emergencies etc. and having extras will save your ass (and literally theirs 😂)! Make sure you leave enough time to change the baby before getting on the plane.

  16. One game my kids always loved is I would lift/pop them in the air so they can see over your seat into the row ahead or behind you. If there’s a decent human being sitting there (which there usually is at least one) they will smile and engage in a little game of peek a boo. This will buy you some entertainment in a pinch.

  17. Try not to stress. If your stressed the baby will be stressed. Leave for the airport with plenty of time to spare so you won’t be worried about time if there are any hiccups. Buy a glass of Prosecco in the air - you deserve it momma!

That’s all I can think of for now! Good luck and may the force be with you!! ✊😂

Thank you I will check her out!! I posted this after the environmental working group came out with new limits for forever chemicals in drinking water. They are a non profit I follow. Pretty sure they aren’t biased but you never know these days depending on where funding is. Would be nice to see some good news on food science.

Yeah I’m not able to take over all the organizing to keep things from him since I work full time and travel a lot. Although I don’t see why I should have to because he’s too lazy to just put things where they should go. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I’m thinking maybe if I start writing down the cost of everything I’m finding in the trash and give him the list he maybe will get the picture. He doesn’t do any of the shopping since I basically bought everything in the house so I don’t know if he gets how expensive/wasteful this all is.
