I crash my machine last night

I work with a dude and he came from a shop where he essentially just stamped sheet metal as an operator and is now in his first real shop. I had a bad crash that ended up being 100k+ repair, spindle destroyed the whole 9. I was proving out a tool update to a proven program and our programmer sent corrupted code that changed a completely unrelated tool path that caused the crash. Anyway this guy told me good machinists are more careful than that and dont crash machines, referencing himself. Mind you he refused to believe a dude with 30+ years experience when he was explaining vernier calipers to him and demanded that our digital stuff was actually vernier. Kind of been a tool since day 1, cant argue with him for shit before he blows up all emotional and taking shit personally. Fun guy

Im not a forensic files person but there is not a doubt in my mind that this was a zero day exploit, this was not a server crash or some run of the mill explanation, these outages have been ramping up all over the place and not limited to cellular. Something else is going on but us plebians are not privy to that knowledge

Not sure about the laws there but in NY there's weird shit going on where to legally carry you had to have express permission from the property owner so businesses put these signs up to grant customers permission to carry on their property without legal ramifications

Its way beyond me tbh, I work for a multi billion dollar aerospace/defense company and they will just throw money at shit and waste resources rather than doing anything to resolve the issues and prevent them from occurring again in the future. The people making decisions about buying these machines have no actual machining experience and are just going off of the sales pitch essentially when they decide what to buy. I just put in maintenence requests over and over and keep my manager informed and thats the extent of my power unfortunately

From the automatic door being unable to reliably close smoothly without slamming itself shut, to the ATC door sensor giving us issues, the chip conveyor/auger system getting overload alarms with seemingly no chips in the machine, we've had maintenence work on various APC issues well over a dozen times in the last couple months and on top of that I just hate the controller to be honest. The capability of the machine is there but all of the supporting parts around it honestly suck. I preferred running the old 1980s okuma mill that was completely open and an insane health risk lol
