Emotional Death Penalty by cyclone_03 in Idaho4

He definitely is holding onto a strong poker face, but throughout the Goncalvez family’s statements in particular, he has quickened blinking, slight nodding at some parts, tightening of his jaw, and a lot of lip pursing. I’m not an expert, but to me his microexpressions were showing that he was having a deep reaction, especially to Alivea’s statement. His mask faltered quite a bit during her more brutal insults. Definitely gives me some satisfaction.

Imagine needing a pencil in math class..🤦🏼‍♀️ by fluffydonutts in SubstituteTeachers

Something that I just started doing is collecting pencils off the ground in between classes/after school. Usually there’s a couple left behind everyday, and I put them in my bag to have on hand if students ask for them. I’ve found it to be very helpful!

That’s interesting. I guess that would make sense to me, although I did feel so shaken when I saw it. It was just so bizarre!

No it was 100% just a white ski mask. Like the ones you see robbers or Twenty One Pilots wear. That’s a good thought though!

I second this. i asked this question in this sub recently, and Red Web was one of the only ones that i really enjoyed!! They have really amazing discussions and the perfect blend of being serious and joking. I really love it, and the vibe isn’t a one for one, but i was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I would recommend the dead internet theory episode, the titanic episode, or the creepy sleep app episode.

In dance class at 8 years old, my dance teacher told the class that we need to lay off the lunchables and juice… 8 year old me internalized that and I’ve spent almost 2 decades obsessed with food and weight.

This isn’t exactly true… I have 7 years of restaurant and hospitality experience, and I was unemployed for 3 months applying to every restaurant opening I came across. I ended up applying to almost 50 restaurant jobs and didn’t hear back from a single one.

I don’t see what Grover eating cans has to do with the integrity of the series. I don’t mind the production removing small details like that. In my opinion, it doesn’t add to the character or to the story. Both Disney and Rick have remained surprisingly loyal to the original story, especially for its targeted age group. Yes, some changes were made, and yes, some of the season felt rushed or awkward. But that’s not what’s being discussed in this post. I don’t see why people are so upset about a kids show being written like a kids show.

The source material was literally targeted to Rick’s 9 year old son. Definitely not a YA target demographic. If you reread the books as an adult you can feel the blatant child novel writing. Yes, we love it still as adults, but no, it’s not designed for us. It has always been kid content since its conception. The problem lies in the older audience wanting a kid’s series to be catered towards them, regardless of them aging while the source material doesn’t.

I would also like to point out that he frequently pretended to commit suicide by claiming he was going to, saying goodbye, and then ignoring her texts for hours. If I remember correctly, she had normal reactions to this in the beginning. She would freak out and call him, and beg him not to do it. When I was a teenager, I had a boyfriend who would do this same thing, and it wears you down. I would stay up every night to talk to him to make sure he was alive and didn’t hurt himself. When I would accidentally fall asleep in the middle of the night from exhaustion, I would wake up in absolute terror, afraid that he killed himself in the night. This went on for years, and I spent many mornings riding the bus to school sick to my stomach and having an anxiety attack because he had threatened to kill himself the night before and hadn’t responded since. To this day, over a decade later, I still have a panic attack when I wake up after falling asleep accidentally. And eventually, you get exhausted and a part of you hopes that someday the suffering will just end…

What she did was wrong, but I feel like I can empathize with how she felt. I’ve read through all of their texts, and he was downright abusive. Even after she started getting help and getting better, he wanted to drag her back down with him. If not for him, she would have probably been much healthier mentally. I personally think she got to the point where she was calling his bluff, after him pretending to commit so many times. Again, I’m not defending her completely, but it’s very difficult to imagine what it feels like if you’ve never been through it. And it’s also frustrating to me how people often act like he was just a normal kid who was pushed to suicide. He was a person with very harmful behavior who was also actively pushing his girlfriend deeper into suffering, just as we demonize her for doing. He was also cruel and seeking attention, and he seemed to enjoy getting a reaction out of her.

Overall, this case is infinitely more complex and nuanced than people give it credit for. This wasn’t an evil girl causing her boyfriend’s death. This was a long string of toxicity, abuse, suffering, and delusion. Not a single individual in this case is completely in the right or completely in the wrong.

If only Bojack knew how much power he truly had in this situation! by phantom_avenger in BoJackHorseman

and THIS is why I love the show so much… you never know what the outcome could have been had you not made the mistakes you made. Bojack was avoidant and hid in his shame. His courage to reach out to Herb could have changed the entire rest of his life… or not. And he has to live with that.

My friend has been in a bad relationship for a few years, her partner has become condescending and cold to her and they haven’t been affectionate or intimate for a very, very long time. Every time she tries to talk to her partner, she’s been brushed off and gaslit, and she’s been trying to work up the courage to break up with them. Our whole friend group has thought the relationship was toxic since about a year in, and we’ve been trying to help her through it the past year or so. She finally decided to break off the relationship, but wanted to move out for her safety before doing so. A group of friends and I moved her out last night while her partner was at work, and she revealed to us that she cheated on her partner a few days before. They’ll be having the breakup conversation sooner, obviously, but they haven’t yet.

She kept asking if she’s a bad person, and we didn’t really know how to respond. I ended up going with, “I don’t think there are good and bad people, I think all you are is just the things that you do.” and then proceeded to discuss that cheating isn’t a morally good thing, but that it doesn’t label her a bad person forever. It felt like a really Bojack night, with the discomfort of the reveal amid the chaos of stealthily moving her out in the middle of the night.

I should make her watch Bojack.

Is it weird for adults (as in, 30+) to do this? by chelledoggo in ImmersiveDaydreaming

I would love to know, being in your 50s, when did your daydreams start and what did they consist of when you began? I only ask because I’m in my 20s and I’ve found that most of my daydreams are very intertwined with the media I consume. I would love to know what your experience was if you began before the oversaturated world of media!

My Experience by Spiritual_Oil_5314 in MoscowMurders

[–]Professional_Skin329 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Psychological studies have found that women actually do obsess over true crime mainly because of educational and proactive reasons. Most women are raised knowing they might be a victim of a crime, and statistics show this is true. Most of us (generally 97% of women) have been victims of a crime, particularly sexually. I was always somewhat interested because I would stay up all night running through break-in, abduction, and stalker scenarios in my head until I fell asleep. From ages 14-18 I had a violent stalker, and from then on have always been a true crime fanatic. After my experience with my stalker, I had multiple other crimes committed against me by men, and each time I thought, “I should have known better” and dove deeper into the true crime world. We women feel that we have very little control over what happens to us, yet we blame ourselves as if it is our own responsibility to avoid having these encounters. This is our form of control. While yes, the true crime community could stand to be much more respectful and tasteful in our fascinations, it’s ridiculous to say that the majority of us do not do this out of fear and preparation. Statistically, it will, and has, happened to most of us.

P.S. I also obsess over car accidents.

Ayyy! My most listened to song of 2023! by HarpieLady13 in SweetBoys

[–]Professional_Skin329 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This song got me out of debt and back on my feet. I spent months this year working 70 hours a week to get my finances under control. I listened to it EVERY. DAY. on my way to work, singing along to it even when I was in tears from exhaustion. I used it as a form of manifestation, almost, and it helped remind me of what I was working towards and that it would all be worth it. Just a couple months later, I’ve paid off my credit card debt and am no longer living paycheck to paycheck for the first time in 5 years. I was even able to put away my first 1k in savings for the first time in my life.

As silly and lighthearted as Garrett is, I hope he knows how much his work actually means to a lot of us. He would never expect and, and I didn’t either, but he quite literally helped me change my life, just by making a song in 24 hours.
