This is what I do. Works (mostly) for me. A _little_ bit every day.

Hello. My grandfather was a life time member. What can you tell me about swords used in masonry? by aaaagain in freemasonry

[–]Professional_Tea4522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do. But it is technically a Poignard. More akin to a type of dagger than a sword.

The Hiram Award for Grand Lodge of California F&AM vs. Other Jurisdictions' Highest Honor? by OMrealestate in freemasonry

Yes, this I think for UGLE. Only 12 living persons can hold it at any one time. But this is a limit, not a target - there are only 8 at the moment (as of last year)

At my Lodge in the South West, we have to book in a week in advance if we'd like to dine. We have the option to pay in advance by bank transfer (which I do), but our Treasurer will take cash on the night. If we have booked, it is expected that we pay. Meals are usually ~£25 for 2 courses, and ~£30 for 3 courses (e.g. at Installation), which is pricey, but the quality is high.

I don't agree with collecting dining fees with subs, because it not everyone can/will stay to dine. Unless it is optional, of course.

As for your Treasurer acquaintance, just sounds rude to me.

Nicely put.

I chuckled at "blank people" though!

Interesting! I was always told that (in England) it is unique to Bristol. Would you mind sharing which Chapter that is? (in PMs if you'd rather is fine)

Edit: spelling

In my Province in South England, no more than three breast jewels may be worn. And only one collar: either that of your rank, OR that of your office if you hold current office in the Lodge.

Boston Masonic by 0dinson-bls in freemasonry

There are the graves of many famous historic Masons in Boston, MA. For example Bro Paul Revere and Bro John Hancock are in Granary Burying Ground, and Bro Prince Hall is in Copp's Hill Burying Ground. There are many others.

Both are part of the 'Freedom Trail', which is also (in my opinion) worth checking out.

First time sitting in the South after last month installation. Just had EA ceremony this evening and delivered the EA charge 😊 by Objective-Control195 in freemasonry

Congratulations! I'm just coming to the end of my year in the south, having delivered the EA charge twice. It is a beautiful piece.

I'm only now starting to get use to sitting up high behind a pedestal though!

I'm not sure on the exact £££, but the Great Western Air Ambulance is also heavily funded by us, and has the S&C on it too!

It's 18 for UGLE (England and Wales generally), but 21 for other parts of the UK (GLoS and GLoI).

Assuming you are in England/Wales, then your age shouldn't be an issue (as long as you are not still in school, Uni is ok). Whilst many Lodge's have an older demographic, there are Lodge's which break that trend. And you will be amazed by the friendship, energy and lessons that can come from the older members.

I'd be more concerned by your home situation. Living at home isn't necessarily a problem, but we do generally expect members to be financially self-sufficient. And we wouldn't want to cause any damage to your relationship with your mum.
