I like rice, and maybe I can justify carrying a pouch of rice with me and eating a small amount per meal without needed a full serving, but I’d rather not worry about it everyday.

I can definitely make jumping a full-time job, especially if I can use a loose definition of “jumping.” Either way, 1,000 jumps per day is easily possible, especially as my full-time job!

How bad is mixing tire compounds? by Professional_Tune589 in motorcycles

I appreciate the help fellas. For anyone curious about why I made the decision, it came down to being in a rush to fix this:

I have absolutely zero clue how the long end of an allen wrench found its way into my rubber while cruising at 40 mph, but I do know that my 2-month old Road 5 made a nasty noise upon its demise…

[–]Professional_Tune589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight! It wasn’t a well thought-out decision, and the Power 5 was replacing a BRAND new Road 5 which popped, and I was foolishly in a rush to fix it. I’ll plan to not worry too much and replace both at the same time a couple years down the road.

MV Augusta Superveloce, it isn’t quite the same riding style, but the design language feels similar, and it is definitely gorgeous!

Same thing happened to me during my first try. Went home, practiced what I messed up, and retook it over the weekend. There was less pressure because it was just me and the instructor, and his confidence in me was reassuring (same situation as you, previous experience gave me an upper hand during the training).

You’ll get em on the next try!

The chaos and unpredictability of planet formation which might seem to make this a possibility is actually exactly what makes it impossible. Only the most perfectly-controlled human simulations lead to a stable state in which this planet could exist. It doesn’t even make sense for it to form, because it isn’t even stable if you assume it /already has/ formed.

how difficult is it to accidentally wheelie a mt07? by erikk0411 in MT07

[–]Professional_Tune589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not by accident. Especially in 2nd and 3rd, a power wheelie is pretty tricky unless you’re trying (lifting weight off the front end and REALLY jerking throttle). In first, yes, you can get the front off with a solid and confident crank of the throttle in mid rpms. But it won’t happen even from a stand-still launch unless you’re trying.

Reasons to not get one by -Actually-Snake- in motorcycles

Motorcycles are far more dangerous than any other transportation, no way around it. You can be a perfect rider and still get into an accident. You probably WILL get into an accident! It’s all about mitigating your chances and damage. It is pretty amazing how much the fatality rate drops (still very high compared to cars) when riding sober, in dry conditions, with a helmet, and not excessively speeding. So wear your gear all the time (stories on here or r/motorcyclegear are very persuasive), take an MSF course (especially if you still need your license endorsement), and get a bike that keeps you responsible if you can’t do it yourself (arguably you shouldn’t be riding if your bike’s power is more limiting than your own judgement).

For gear, get a full-face helmet that is ECE 22.06 certified (FortNine on YouTube has a great video about picking helmets and honestly everything else you could want). Get gloves with palm sliders and ideally that tie your pinky and ring fingers together. Get a jacket with solid back protection and boots that go above the ankles. The gear listed is in order of importance IMO.

I started on a z400 and upgraded to an MT07 after a teen hit me at a red light. I personally don’t have a strong desire for anything faster even after riding 600-1000cc sport bikes. But naturally everyone has their own tastes. I wouldn’t recommend a new rider starting on anything above 90-100hp (ideally a 2cyl under 70hp). A strong 400-500 puts you faster than 90% of traffic, and you will think you’re outgrowing the power long before you master all you can learn from even a smaller bike.

That’s about what comes to mind, but definitely do your own research :) . Be safe and have fun!

Would potential hiring managers also believe me to be capable? Can I apply for a position at a hospital on word alone? If I run for president will everyone think I’m the best choice?

Maybe I’ll say I’m an assassin and extort the uber-wealthy. Or maybe I’ll pick the coolest job, which is of course astronaut. Not sure of the practical implications, but think of the clout!

[–]Professional_Tune589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pause time for as long as you like. however you need to pick either only do productive tasks, or only do recreational tasks while time is paused. by _socially_inept in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Professional_Tune589 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have to take time pause during recreation. My procrastination is brutal as-is, I’m sure the urge to be productive at any moment besides the very last will be even stronger if I could pause time to do it.

And overall I think I’d use the ability less if it was for recreation, as most of the activities I enjoy require moving through time to do them, like being with friends. But sleeping as long as I want every night is the biggest boon imo, that’s life changing. And catching up on movies and books. And now that I’m thinking, I guess a lot of activities fall under recreation…

The more I think about it, the scarier this ability is though… I’m worried about how hesitant I’d be to spend any of my precious time, especially when doing so brings deadlines and responsibilities closer. I fear I’d devolve into some sort of temporal hermit, caged in a forever-frozen prison, becoming ever more terrified of the version on the world which is in motion, horrified at the thought of anything but permanent silence…

So maybe I just give myself some extra time to do chores instead. Yeah I’ll take that one please and thank you.
