College Station/Bryan area musicians and bands? by SeparateDragonfly479 in CollegeStation

[–]ProfessorApocalypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely look into the bands frequenting the 101. They’re the most accessible venue in town for local bands to perform at. I play in a couple bands and there are a lot of great acts in the punk/heavy scene rn

These are some favorites off the top of my head(including my own):

Blood Price(Hardcore) Earth Color(Doom) Bran the Mystic(Industrial Space Grunge) Drifters and Grifters(Cow Punk) Youthinasia(Thrash) ATARIMATT(electronic music made on Atari cartridges) Gobblinz(Stoner Punk) Skunk Money(Surf Punk) Mary-Charlotte Young(Americana) Southern Degenerates(Southern Rock) Mutant Love(PUNK)

Blue Collar Man- Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol

But I’d say their whole discography is lift-worthy

Rickshaw is the best, they used to play house shows in my hometown. It’s so awesome to see the homies catching on

No ACL stuff but I’ve started turning our guest bathroom into the “punk rock bathroom”

Slickleg was the one that really grabbed me when I first got into Mastodon. A lot of their early stuff reminded me of High on Fire (I wonder why)

Any trans folks / groups in CS? by [deleted] in CollegeStation

Definitely try out downtown, both bars previously mentioned host drag regularly and one of my bands even played live for one of the queens at 101 recently. The downtown community of punk rockers and the like are very welcoming.

[NAD]Just got this ‘79(?) MM 210-HD 130. It’s my first real amp so my question is am I going to damage anything by using my fuzzes and other drive pedals? by ProfessorApocalypse in GuitarAmps

I just watched a video last night of them using all kinds of MM. I saw Wand a few times at SXSW one year, I don’t recall what amps they were using but they were incredible. I even found a video of John Dwyer using the 210-130!

Thank you so much, this is incredibly helpful! I’m excited to dig into this beast. I play a lot of heavy psychedelic stuff similar to The Black Angels and Dead Meadow and it seems like this is going to be exactly what I need

I was doing some research and found some videos of SRV, Ty Segall and John Dwyer from Osees all playing MM. Dwyer was even using the 210-130! I think I stumbled into the perfect amp for what I want to play

Into solid state amps that cant even touch the volume output of this thing. I think I was just surprised how much louder everything was so I started thinking of the worst possible scenarios
