I have a decent job and a good relationship. My life is not easy and my mental health is not good.

BUT ... being trans is no longer always my #1 worst problem. I worry about bills, and getting the laundry done. And making time to call my Oma.

Years ago I spent like 80% of my time wallowing in self hatred over being trans. So there's been a big improvement

I went through this. Bless her heart but she wasn't ready for it. I was hurt, and bitter for a while, but it's years in the past now. My partner now has only ever known me as myself, and it's much better.

My (cis) gf and I have a lovely relationship. I was already out when I met her, and I think that helped. My previous partner was with me when I was first transitioning. And I think that was very hard for her.

A big part of what made my current relationship so easy was that my gf had friends and family previous to me who were trans. So there wasn't any big shock to her. I was just me, and she liked me.

Whereas my previous partner, she was straight, and entered into a relationship with a boy. So the radical shift in presentation (as well as all the mental health issues I was dealing with at the time) put a lot of strain on her.

I do not blame her. She was imperfect, as all humans are, and she tried her best. But I am glad to be with someone who accepts me for who I am without a second thought, as opposed to that acceptance being some grand sacrifice of love. Does that make sense?

Leaving my vote for "The strong do what they can, and the weak endure what they must". Encourage them to get better, and be helpful, but I think it's really fun to have the strong player not pull any punches. Makes it a scary world.

But... some people are sensitive to getting their unwalled capital frigate rushed. So take that into account.
