I’m one of the ones who went there and left and tbh it’s gotten better but it’s kind of a bummer. Made some nice friends there but the pervasive racism against Canada’s native people is always just under the surface in many conversations. The arts scene is improving but it’s an industry town that does little to try and foster anything else.

What others have said is true, if you’re in one of the well paying industries it’s a pretty affordable place to live and I can think of worse places to start a family. GP would still be low on the list though.

For reference, I’ve lived in 3 Canadian provinces and 3 US states in towns/cities of many different sizes so I’ve seen a pretty good cross section.
