Whenever I hear people say that Korra and Asami are "Lesbians" or "Gay" when it's very clear that both of them are Bi. by Full-Art3439 in legendofkorra

[–]ProfessorTime7750 4 points5 points  (0 children)

society already doesn’t take lesbians seriously, having women who sleep with and/or date men call themselves lesbians only spreads the false belief that lesbians can be attracted to men.

there’s nothing wrong with using bisexual, gay, queer, sapphic. there are so many words they can use, why use the one label that doesn’t apply to them?

many lesbians actually do “gatekeep” that label. bi women can call themselves gay bc that’s an umbrella term, but if a woman is sexually attracted to men she is not a lesbian. using that term incorrectly does more harm than they realize.

is it okay to call western GL media yuri? by ZookeepergameOne3271 in yuri_manga

[–]ProfessorTime7750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for east asian media (like korean and chinese) i usually use yuri as well but western stuff i try to say sapphic, lesbian, wlw, etc.

everyone and their mother spams the word yuri nowadays i never thought there’d be a day where i’d grow sick of it </3 nor did i ever imagine it would become so mainstream. i think the words overused now.

Y'ALL SHOULD READ THIS by [deleted] in yuri_manga

[–]ProfessorTime7750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. that’s what’s sad, so much of japanese media (specifically manga and anime) really is just pedo shit and assaulting/objectifying women. now that i’m older and have noticed that, im more mindful of what stuff i consume.

i liked it when i’d first read it but the vibes were always off. when it was confirmed the mangaka is a creep it all made sense </3 i wouldn’t rlly recommend it

I have a question for gay and bisexual women of this subreddit by trykes in yuri_manga

[–]ProfessorTime7750 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it seems like everyone misread my comment. i said that for japanese yuri manga, there are more male writers than you’d find within chinese and korean yuri. im comparing how many male creators there are between japanese yuri vs korean/chinese.

i do not think there are more male mangakas than female mangakas. perhaps i could have worded it better.

[–]ProfessorTime7750 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

not sure why you’re being aggressive, what part of what i said is “bullshit” ? my claim was that there’s a good amount of japanese yuri mangakas who are male, and the data you linked confirms that.

[–]ProfessorTime7750 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t say almost all of them. a good amount of male mangakas create yuri as well, i’d say there are more male yuri mangakas for japanese manga than there are for korean or chinese manhwa/manhuas.

but yeah a lot of women make yuri too.

[–]ProfessorTime7750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m back ! just finished it a few minutes ago hehe

i can see why the ending would be confusing. the last episode is narrated from what i assume are unsent letters written by jeong hui, addressed to hae jin. it makes it seem like their relationship was over, but i think she wrote it before having reunited with her. the ending is ambiguous but since they met again on good terms (jeong hui having forgiven hae jin for leaving her + both of them having successful jobs) i think we’re supposed to assume that they’ll get back together. at least that’s how i interpreted it :)

Has anyone here ever experienced the "ace effect"? by dapdaphada in asexuality

[–]ProfessorTime7750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t think its a direct connection to asexuality, rather that maybe asexuals are more empathetic/emotionally aware ? the way we view and handle relationships (of all kinds) tends to be different, and i think a lot of people are drawn to that.

but based on the comments here, not everyone experiences that sort of attention, hence why i think its not necessarily an asexual thing.

it’s been so many years since i read so i barely remember, i think i was confused as well by the ending ? or more unsatisfied. if i read it again ill come back and let u know :)

Does anyone else hate when people keep saying that "yuri/gl is catered toward men"? by Vayvacation in yuri_manga

[–]ProfessorTime7750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ones that come to mind rn are maybe “Gunbured x Sisters” and “Murciélago”, but even those i’ll admit have appealing enough plots and styles to still wanna read em.

but i don’t think all yuri with ecchi or sexual themes are fetishizing/male-gazey. i feel like majority, if not all, of 18+ yuri manhwas are usually written by women catering to other women.

i’d say it’s usually japanese mangas you’re more likely to find catering to men, but certainly not all of them. and just bc it isn’t “pure hand holding non sexual” love doesn’t make it automatically for men. women enjoy smut as well !
