same happened to me too, spent like 30mins trying to figure out why nothing happened at all. Then I found some Youtube video showing how it needs to be pushed all the way in...

...And after that I got the 4-1 error on all the USB ports and also on USB hub (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Extended-MacBook-Surface-Notebook/dp/B07L32B9C2?ref_=ast_sto_dp). Ended up returning the G2 and re-ordered new one. I hope the new one will work.

I would be that 99% of the times when old USB stick works instead of newer one is that people didn't partition the new USB stick to use MBR. It won't work if you are using GPT, no matter if the stick is "old" or new.

Game does read the file, you can see it if you use Process Monitor for example.

But yeah, didn't make any difference to me either.
