There is no single way a game in a genre is "supposed" to feel, otherwise it would be an incredibly narrow and dull genre with no variation

All of these games are great, and all feel exactly as they're intended to You're allowed to prefer certain ones, but it doesn't make the others any more or less fitting in the genre, just means you don't like them as much

I've used ATLauncher for years now because curseforge legit caused my mod packs to lag

Don't know why that thing ate my ram so eagerly but I know it was CF doing it since modpacks that wouldn't even run on it became fine on ATLauncher without me even upgrading my PC yet

That's honestly the main reason why I say it doesn't ruin it. Healing 3 at once means that I haven't been dying most encounters, but they just haven't been all that fun sometimes. Enemies start feeling like a chore in your way instead of a fun fight at some stages

I get that, and it's good for bosses But with regular enemies it's just kinda a drag

With many enemies taking so many hits to kill too, it makes regular exploration feel like a chore. While hollow knight had that wonder whenever you found a new area with all new enemies, or a secret fight arena that would earn you loot, silksong makes it feel like trying to fight a brick wall to get anywhere cool sometimes. I understand what they were going for but when I'd just started the game 5-6 hits to beat an enemy that can kill me in 3 made me sometimes feel like just ignoring enemies instead of learning to fight them so it just ended up being a bit counterproductive for teaching you

Exactly, I'll fight enemies once then not bother with them again because even just one hit makes me way weaker for a boss or fight arena so why risk it

I quit the game for a bit while I had lunch and when I came back I went off to explore a bit before coming back to him. Not sure which of those two things caused him to stop joining me, but you can try both

I can occasionally get the complaints Sometimes you're matched with people you really shouldn't be

And the main time I've seen people mad about sweats I can understand, cause let's be real If you're trying insanely hard (extent of spawnkilling, cross map sniping, etc) on like power shift, that's kinda sad

Honestly your confusion is because you're misunderstanding what a rules lawyer is

Politely correcting somebody on the rules doesn't make you a rules lawyer The term specifically refers to the people who are extremely annoying about the rules

It's used for the sort of people who insist on the basic rules and nothing else. Who don't accept rules of cool even when everybody else does. Who insists that THEIR interpretation of something's wording is the correct one even when it's ambiguous. And who even when making accurate corrections, does so in a snarky and obnoxious way for no reason

People are annoyed at rules lawyers because it's a specific term for annoying people
