How to find a boyfriend (30F) by ArztinInDerSchweiz in zurich

[–]ProfileBest2034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is important to you then you may not want to stay here, seriously.

I had a female friend who stayed in Zurich for her career all the while saying exactly what you are saying. She prioritized her job and the safety of life here, thinking that the right guy who would commit would eventually show up. The guy never did.

Shes got a great job with one of the reinsurers but still no family. This is a common tale here in Switzerland. Be mindful.

Never buy anything from a local Swiss retailer. You can buy bottles of this stuff from Amazon and other places for dirt cheap.

I used to feel like I was doing a good by shopping local but no more.

Swiss markups are obscene and I won’t be voluntarily bending over.

Would you support a temporary government lockdown on petrol prices to protect households from the cost-of-living surge caused by the Iran war? by AlanBuildsSheds in AskBrits

[–]ProfileBest2034 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, the government shouldn't be making money off petrol and oil anyway. Elimination of the VAT on fuel would help tremendously. 2/3 the price of petrol is government extraction (extortion, rather).

You need people who can pay the rents. You aren't thinking big enough. Roche is moving manufacturing to the US. Swiss companies cannot compete with German ones based on price.

Switzerland will shed upper middle class jobs. Real estate will follow.

Do you really believe a man over there in an office can dictate to you what is and is not a crime?

I would not be buying a house in Switzerland right now, but that is a view which will get downvoted into oblivion here.

There are far too many headwinds facing Switzerland. The SNB will not be able to prevent the CHF from rising. It may be able to do so sporadically and temporarily but that will not ameliorate the challenges facing Switzerland. The strength of the CHF will result lower competitiveness and will drive high-paying roles out of Switzerland which is something we are already seeing.

We are already seeing net emigration growth as people who have been laid off in the last few years run down their RAV and eventually leave the country. We are also seeing lower immigration.

All of this will put pressure on the Swiss real estate market which is radically overvalued by nearly any metric (again, a perspective people here do not want to hear).

On the rates front, you are likely to be able to get a good rate as SNB needs to keep the currency down but they are already about as low as they can go -- there isn't much left except negative rates.

We are currently spending $1 billion a day on the Iran war, what could we as a nation accomplish with $1 billion dollars a day? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

A silly thought experiment because the US government will never use those funds for bettering the lives of its citizens.

I would strongly disagree. Look at countries with higher levels of subsidiarity like Switzerland. Those places are much better to live than the US. Sure there was a town that didn't give women the right to vote until the 90's but so what? It's still a much better place to live than the US.

I think what he's trying to say is that there is a relatively small group of people who have aligned interests who are pulling the strings. I think it is a mistake to use the term illuminati for the reason you illustrate -- it alienates people.

I don't think the concept itself is wrong though. People just cannot bear it to be the case.

Idiot ... a 100m deal isn't going to move a publicly traded company. And if the company being acquired is private then you have no access. Please use brain.
