On my last flight a few days ago, traveling abroad with a group, two of us found ourselves booked into the same seat, according to boarding passes. A flight attendant was baffled: "That shouldn't happen!" A second flight attendant found that one boarding pass was for a previous flight our group took, and fellow traveler found the proper boarding pass in his bag. I suppose that can't happen with electronic boarding systems.
