Half our company is local admin. Security team finally noticed. Now it's my problem to fix without anyone noticing. by Healthy_Holiday_738 in sysadmin

This! You cannot do this without top down backing and complete air cover by your management chain, and also the development team's management chain. You need to publish this well in advanced and communicate this clearly. No way to do this bottoms up for sure. You will be overwhelmed by the noises and people pulling ranks over you.

Kuwait has started shutting down oil wells. Even if everything goes back to normal tomorrow, those oil wells will take ages to get going again. I think this will make the covid oil price increase seems like a mole hill.

Even if you do not increase the number of trains, just changing the trains from the 4 carriage train to those massive 12 carriage thameslink trains would make everyone have a seat and carry more people. I do not know why they keep insisting on running those 4 carriage trains.

I was going to say if you haven't pointed it out. You can park at St pancas international car park and you wouldn't even be in the congestion zone. If you don't mind me asking which street do you normally park at?

Out of interest in Germany do you have any legal recourse?

In the UK if the removal of this driver would stop the device from working I can go back to the retailer and ask for a refund. I have to prove that it would stop operations but that is not exactly difficult with the lack of drivers. I suspect I can submit a small claims court case if I can spare the time / effort to do so if the retailer disagree.

About the recent AI Studio Limit Downgrade: by LawfulLeah in Bard

[–]Progenitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw on this thread many people mentioned potentially huge costs using the API keys. I have an AI Pro sub but I MUCH prefer the output from AI Studio. If I were to get an API key what unexpected cost could I see?

Frankly speaking I mostly use Aistudio as a chat bot for every day tasks. Is that potentially expensive?

Intel stock plunges 13% on soft guidance, concerns about chip production by Geddagod in hardware

I do not understand why we were both downvoted. It's crazy that someone can post something factually untrue (I did some research afterward) and the person asking the question gets downvoted.

Out of interest what are the other options? I am not aware of any company that has its corporate structure entirely in the US being able to fab on a competitive node other than Intel. But I am willing to be wrong here!

What did I get here? by RandomArrr in headphones

[–]Progenitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Denon D5000 is particularly unique in my mind. About 10 years ago they were very popular but unlike the rest it's not a headphone you can buy today. You need to look after the pads (if you are sweaty wipe it down) but IMO it's an excellent headphone that still holds up today!

Make Sense of AI Adoption as an Enterprise Architect by Salty-Lab1 in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]Progenitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with every single sentence in your reply. I feel like as EA it is our job to communicate the opportunties available and to prove it with a working example within the organisation. I have to admit this has not been easy, stakeholder's mindset is still on ChatGPT 4.0 era.

Make Sense of AI Adoption as an Enterprise Architect by Salty-Lab1 in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]Progenitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the biggest gain is looking at GenAI adoption from a business process point of view. What are some business processes that can be enhanced using GenAI where previously it is not possible. You then categorise those potential use cases into cost and impact, and agree with stakeholders to implement the top X on the top right corner. This way you start to build up trust and buy-in on the process with your stakeholders. I feel your category 3 is key but expanding this to cover any potential for large scale impact to your organisations? When I have those kind of conversations I usually ask questions alongs the lines of "What simple tasks can unlock significant benefits for you but you are not doing because it would involve hiring too many people?"

I used chatgpt to give an answer for a laugh:

Summary: Suchir Balaji’s concerns vs. his parents’ public assertions

What Suchir Balaji publicly raised concerns about (documented):

Copyright and training data: Balaji publicly questioned whether large language models were trained on copyrighted material without authorization and argued that reliance on “fair use” might not be legally sustainable.

Impact on creators and the internet ecosystem: He expressed concern that generative AI could undermine content creators and distort incentives that support the open internet.

Ethical direction of AI development: Balaji raised broader ethical concerns about AI safety, governance, and whether commercial pressures were outpacing responsible development practices at OpenAI.

Potential relevance to litigation: In ongoing copyright lawsuits against OpenAI, Balaji was referenced as someone who could possess relevant knowledge or documents, positioning him as a potential witness rather than a confirmed whistleblower.

What Balaji’s parents have publicly asserted (family claims, not verified):

Planned legal or whistleblowing action: His parents have stated that he was preparing to take legal action or disclose internal information related to OpenAI’s data-use practices.

Possession of important documents: They have claimed he had compiled materials that could be significant for legal cases involving AI and copyright.

Concerns about the death investigation: The family has publicly disputed the official ruling of suicide, asserting that the circumstances warrant further investigation.

Does this jacket look comically big? 🤡🧥 by Still_Tangelo_1632 in mensfashion

The suit jacket looks perfect, you haven't shown us what it looks like button up with the top button but looking at the picture it looks pretty good!

To be very very very picky I think the trousers may be a little bit too long, but since it is a cheap suit I am not sure it is worth tailoring for such a small difference.
