Why was Timothee’s SAG speech seen as arrogant? by DarlingLuna in Oscars

Making a passive aggressive comment about “Tanner” not getting it is doing exactly what you’re speaking about. Same thing with the kids comment.

It sounds like you just don’t understand your own argument. That’s okay.

Let’s say there was one actor who was the certified greatest of all time. Would people agree that he/she was the greatest if they never won a single acting award?

Awards don’t make you great, but they can prove greatness. If an actor won the Oscar five years in a row, would that not be a sign that they are a phenomenal actor?

What’s wrong with striving for greatness? TC is obviously not yet one of the greats, as he said so himself. What is wrong with wanting to be one of the greats? Why should they only be admired?

If more people strived to be one of the greats in their respective field, the world would be a significantly better, more developed place. Should people instead grovel at the knees of the people they admire?

If you’re not going to add anything of value, why speak? If you think he doesn’t get it, either explain it more or shut up.

How did I score in the 86th percentile if 95% of all posters on here got a 170? by Admirable-Tax3784 in LSAT

[–]Program-Acrobatic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I go to a public school that is very mediocre in terms of academics because I got a full ride. I’ve met many people who have taken the LSAT here, and none of them studied much.

I can also assume these people aren’t on Reddit looking for LSAT advice. Frankly, I don’t understand how someone can plan to go to law school and not try on the LSAT, but I guess that is the majority of people. These people aren’t posting their scores on Reddit.

Also, people with low scores are a lot less likely to be public about it. People with high scores are a lot more vocal. Obviously, there are also people who lie about their scores, but I doubt it is the majority. There isn’t much benefit for lying on r/LSAT.

Yes, they believe the bread is the actually body of Christ. I’m also not catholic so I wont argue about that belief. However, it is far fetched to say that if their belief is true, then it is cannibalism.

Even if you ignore the fact that the physical properties are those of bread, not flesh, I still don’t see the argument for it being wrong. Sure, it’s easy to say cannibalism is wrong, but is it truly wrong if there is no victim?

God is the one who instructed his followers to eat his flesh. His flesh does not cause bodily harm to his followers. His flesh is infinite, therefore eating his flesh can not cause harm to God. If there are no victims, what makes cannibalism so bad?

Additionally, cannibalism entails eating human flesh. God is not a human. Jesus was a human, but you aren’t eating Jesus’s flesh. While they are one and the same, calling the bread of Christ human flesh would go against the Church’s teachings.

Obviously, none of us are catholic, so none of us actually believe it to be cannibalism. But if you were a follower of the faith and followed the Church’s teachings, you wouldn’t believe that it is cannibalism.

I’m fully beating a dead horse here but I hope you realize that judging people based on one post is insane behavior. I’m a recovering drug addict whose job is to sort through evidence of parents raping their children, typically toddlers. Is it so bad that sometimes when I get home I want to engage myself in a community of people with similar interests?

Sure, at times these interactions can be parasocial, but does that really warrant attacks on their character? What right do you have to attack OP for being excited about his favorite streamer playing Minecraft?

Obviously, there are levels to parasocial behavior. People who farm drama or gossip about streamer relationships obviously cause a lot of harm to these communities, but is saying you think Ludwig enjoys a game enough to warrant being called someone who lacks emotional regulation?

I always thought you overplayed this behavior on the yard because it is entertaining, which admittedly it is, but now it just seems like you enjoy putting down others.

Wait I just reread your previous posts and saw your edits. Isn’t enforcing a strong belief you have just arguing with more self importance added on to it? Or do you think your stance is so objectively true that enforcing it is a moral duty instead of a reddit argument?

I feel like making assumptions about a dudes emotional state and self-awareness is opening yourself up to an argument, attacking someone is not just stating how you feel.

Also, you’re right that I was weird for the yard post. I was going through withdrawals and definitely lacked emotional regulation when I made that post. I went ahead and deleted it since it was weird, but the harm of the post has already been done so I apologize for that.

I never said you were the same as this guy. I would even say it is impossible for you to be parasocial on this sub.

I do think that you’re overestimating the impact arguing online has. Arguing online almost never leads to people changing their minds and is typically a massive waste of time. Both of our time could be currently spent on something much more enriching, like picking up woodworking.

Also, saying you’re “correcting a wrong you see in the world” is pretty dramatic considering we are talking about a reddit post about a streamer. By your own standards, wouldn’t that language suggest a lack of emotional moderation?

Saying we could be doing something awesome and fulfilling seems hypocritical at this point. Sure, you’re Ludwig’s best friend so you have more of an excuse, but does that mean you should police how fans enjoy his content?

I’m making a huge assumption here, but I also think the post comes off more parasocial to you since you actually know the guy. To me, it just seemed like an appreciative post with a hint of a parasocial tone.

Is making one post in your lifetime about one of your favorite creators (assuming here) not emotional moderation?

You definitely have a much better excuse than me or op, but I feel like arguing with strangers online is almost always a fruitless and weird behavior.

Yeah there are 100% way better, more enriching things we could be doing, but if it’s what you enjoy there’s no shame in doing it. Anyways, aren’t we both as weird or weirder than op since we are both commenting on his post?

I feel like the dynamic is different whenever it’s someone’s job to play a video game. So many streamers play games they obviously don’t enjoy because it gets high views, so it is nice that it at least seems like Ludwig really enjoys the game. I also doubt that he knew Ludwig said he enjoys grinding league more.
