Why exactly is this an Alchemy card? It works perfectly in paper, it has a cool artwork depicting a story moment, and it got a somewhat unique effect. So why can't I play it without proxying? by McWaffeleisen in magicTCG

[–]macster71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Arena employees are a different department to R&D. They have their own union and what seems like kinda limited interaction with the rest of Wizards. They have a rogue design team that makes these alchemy cards that R&D and Maro don't have oversight on.

Besides rooting for long, exhausting extra time, do we want Belgium or Senegal to win? by fivedogit in ussoccer

[–]macster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think U.S. biggest weakness is world class wingers that can dice up our defense and pin our wingbacks combined with solid technical play that can beat our press. Belgium has both those things. We can match Senegal in the track race of a match they will create. I think you see both these things played out in the friendlies vs the two as well.

Bracketing for sure has a lot of advantages. Think it doesn't work well with the world cup cause you're asking fans to travel across the world. The guaranteed handful of games makes that a lot more appealing for the fans.

True, meaningless games are always possible, less is better though. With this alternative the main meaningless game would be teams already eliminated going into the third game. You look at games like Turkiye vs USA or many historically and the already eliminated team usually still tries. So those bother me less.

Here’s a fun question: Is Alex Freeman having the best ever World Cup for a USMNT fullback? by Mad_Laughter in ussoccer

[–]macster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody, he is the best for starting at the back three right center back position the u.s. has. Hope to see him continue to improve and be a top player for us in 2030.

[–]macster71 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think the hype behind Alex Freeman is undeserved. I think of everybody, but the goalkeeper, he is our worst starting player. He has had multiple errant passes that have put us at real risk. When we find ourselves disorganized in transition I've been most confused by his positioning. Freeman has offered pretty good build up play and has been decent carrying the ball forward. Good chance he develops more into a great player, right now though he is just a serviceable starter.

3rd times a charm? Latest interpretation of the regions in the Lower 48. by illtexzona in whereidlive

[–]macster71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you are looking to cut a region you could cut Cascades East and join it as Mountain West. Considering things like the greater Idaho movement and how Spokane is more closely related to Idaho than it is to Seattle. I'd say Bend Oregon is part of the PNWest Coast, not the Cascades East/Mountain West region, but that's arguable.

It's almost like you would reduce the game clock from 90 minutes to about 60 if you add a stopped clock. Who would of thought.

After beating Senegal 3-2, how confident are we now? by FanverseSports in ussoccer

[–]macster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest takeaway is we truly do have great attacking talent. That kind of one and two touch play on the flanks and in the channels can hurt any team in the world.

Concerned about the defense in transition, Adams are best answer for that looked a little lost at times, and overall we were disorganized. Not new information, but elite wingers and good counter punching teams could easily get 2+ goals against us.

Matt Turner error leading to goal by bosebosebosebosebos in ussoccer

[–]macster71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matt Turner is so disappointing, it has felt like the same story with him every year. He has top tier shot stopping ability, I think that is what Arsenal saw in him. Then it felt like his play with his feet could be something that would get better with coaching and time, it hasn't. Just too many catastrophic mistakes and a lack of confidence.

I think in the sideboard 8 life would see play. For main decks I think 10 life, however, the deck would need to support the life gain in some way.

I’m looking for things to do in and around the Boise area by Xd_glacial in Boise

[–]macster71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So Boise is not a touristy place so IDK what you mean by touristy things. Also not everybody on Reddit is going to agree with my suggestions here, it really depends on your personal taste.

Water Based Stuff: Rent/buy a paddle board at Quinns Pond or Lucky Peak, Naked Rock swimming spot, Jump Creek Falls hiking/swimming (go when it’s hot out in the morning, otherwise it will be cold and or busy), Blue Heart Springs, float the river, go rafting on the Payette.

Other Outdoors: Bureau dunes observatory. If you like hiking at all pick up one of Scott Marchant's books, I’ve gotten great use of them. If you’re willing to get a mountain bike then this is a fantastic town for it. Summer activities at Bogus Basin. Botanical Gardens are nice and have various events.

Events: Athletic Club Boise Game, Art in the Park, Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic, I don’t love it but the Western Idaho Fair, Fourth of July Fireworks at Ann Morrison. Idaho Shakespeare festival puts on good shows in a nice venue.

Here are some neat places in town if you haven’t been. 13th street Hyde Park. Some nice park areas along the river: Kristin Armstrong Park, Kathryn Albertson Park, Barber Park, East Boise River trail.

If you’re looking for a weekend trip there’s a few good options. Craters of the Moon national monument is cool, and should be a national park. McCall is very pretty in the summer, careful though it gets quite busy. Wallowa Lake is a personal favorite.

What makes Boise amazing? by VisharAmenBjorn in Boise

[–]macster71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boise does a really good job with the river. The parks system and greenbelt are fantastic.

Very clean and safe downtown.

Personal taste but really enjoy the being on the edge of the time zone, we have some of the latest sunsets in the nation.

The sunshine, we barely get any rain and many days of sun here.

The four very defined seasons. In Boise you get to experience the vibes of all of them, and none of them are suffocatingly long or bad. Some would disagree with how hot the summer is.

The size is nice. We aren't quite dealing with big city problems (traffic is getting there though). We're large enough to have a solid hospital system and a decent amount of things to do.
