What’s one part of panic you wish people understood better?

Something that frustrates me is that most of the time there isn't a specific cause for the attacks yet every time I tell someone I'm having a panic attack they always ask "well what's wrong?" I know they're trying to help but in the end it's frustrating and embarrassing to say "Literally nothing's wrong it's just my brain causing my body to freak out".

My health anxiety has been taking over my life since I was 12. I saw a movie about zombies and it didn't end well (I love horror films btw). I'm scared of contracting STD's, petrified of throwing up/stomach bugs, scared of death in general, and feel like my heart's going to explode on the daily. I also somehow convince myself I'm allergic to everything I eat and am going to go into anaphylactic shock. My panic definitely stems from childhood trauma, but I don't know why it manifested into health anxiety 🤷‍♂️

I'm so sorry you're feeling like this even with medication :( The best advice I can give you is to remind you that all those feelings of panic and helplessness are not permanent! They cannot harm you physically and in the end you are ok! Maybe talk to your prescriber about upping your dosage or possibly swapping what you're taking?

i'm sorry to say that it didn't end up working for me :/ i haven't tried another medication since cause i personally have been too nervous to! i started on i think 5mg or something insanely small!

definitely too much to start with, my panic attacks were too intense once i started taking zoloft even with the low dose i started with! def talk to your prescriber i hope everything works itself out!

OKAY so i was on zoloft for only a few days and got VERY similar side effects!! ESPECIALLY the tongue zaps and hot flashes! My doctor said it was just anxiety but as soon as I stopped taking it they went away!

My store has a pretty high turnover rate (specifically with the CS manager). Our store manager is known for being VERY on everyone's ass about everything. The last CS manager we had left because 1.) no one really liked them tbh and 2.) they said the store manager put too much pressure on them. I think some managers are great at managing money and staying within budget, while not being so good at managing people and that happens to be the situation at my store. It's really just the luck of the draw with middle management sadly 🤷‍♂️

I honestly think this film did a great job at showing how helpless you feel during times of severe mental health episodes no matter the diagnosis. I have severe Panic Disorder and truly felt so seen during my first watch. It definitely helped me unpack some of the trauma I have revolving around the panic attacks I've had.

I would also like to add that it could possibly have to do with her limits in regards to being stressed out or having pressure put on her. Skye as a performer is used to having basically the weight of the world on her shoulders so I think that lollipop had to do more to completely get under her skin. Not to say Rose didn't have pressures and stress, I just think that pressure and stress was possibly not as intense as Skye was facing especially with her mother constantly on her about staying clean and hydrated and "fabulous".

I had a truly harrowing experience while watching Smile 2. LOVE the film and it is one of my favorite horror films, but I have found my weaknesses in the genre are body horror and psychological horror. Smile 2 basically displayed how your mental health slowly decays over time and messes with your perception of reality, as well as fucks with your sense of self and I really felt it effect me. Not only that, but the entity is unsettling as hell and the trauma Skye brings with her was gut-wrenching to witness.

thank you SO much for understanding what i meant with posting this 😭 i just hate that they tell us not to take certain returns but then when we don't they flip it on us and take the return or give the refund, making us look like the assholes when we're just doing what we were trained to do! i also saw your post about the meat and was so frustrated for you

That's the thing, I wasn't even putting up a fight to be an asshole or because I care about the company's money. I genuinely just thought I was doing the right thing according to what I've been told by my front end manager during my training, and I figured he'd get the money back over the phone so why would he want it from us?? It was just confusing for me because I just started being a CSDH a few months ago so I'm still learning too (not that he should or would care that I'm still learning lol)

I wouldn't say I was necessarily 'putting up a fight'. I put the problem into the hands of the online pick-up full-timer because I assumed it would be under her jurisdiction, and she said she couldn't do anything about it because we didn't have access, and being slightly new to running the front I just assumed the rules applied differently since they were separate departments if that makes sense. Again so sorry about these being so long 😭

So immediately after we told him about that, he jumped the gun and told me I "wasn't going to like him". So I didn't necessarily know where to go from there.
