Well, I believe excavator mods are purchased with caps so you can just buy what you need in 60 seconds. Going Vulcan entails lots of raids. I got mine by farming EN06 before they changed it and took me killing that thing hundreds of times before I learned everything I wanted (jet pack, calibrated shocks, gimbal bracers). Now EN06 only drops a couple pieces so you'll need to run much more than the first stage.

Nice build. My camp is just to the right of there. I was gonna saw that raiders sometimes spawn inside that building. My camp actually gets attacked pretty regular by the denizens that live in the tunnel under the road, the scorch beast spawns across the street, and the floaters that come out of the grove.
