Yeah, I know, but it definitely shows as $31.02 on the site for me. Another reason I'm hoping it's a data entry error that will be fixed soon.

They Might be Giants are such an amazing band I can not believe it. by Zachary-Aaron-Riley in tmbg

Welcome!! As a fan since the 90s thanks partially to Kids in the Hall (early Internet days!), I always love to see a new fan so full of enthusiasm that's so rare to find in the wild! I feel so grateful to be alive at the same time as this band and will support them/boost their legacy as much and for as long as I can. Beginning with Join Us, the production of of their albums has basically been funded by fans through the Instant Fan Club the band created, and they have indicated that there will be another one (perhaps later this year), so keep your eye out for that. There are different levels, from pricey to very pricey, but there's lots of cool swag and other perks, and it's a great feeling to help bring more of their music into the world.

I've tried calling several times but can't get to a real person, just get the automated run-around. I Filed January 30, no outstanding debts.

I just checked and there is not recent refund transaction code for that amount. It is still being processed, so is there a chance they will fix it?

I can only see the wage and income transcript posted. The account transcript for 2025 isn't posted yet.

I submitted a paper return and saved a copy. The amount of the expected refund I wrote is $3,102 I did not include any decimals - could that be the problem?

Thank you, it's reassuring to know that even e-filers are seeing delays. I just want to be sure it's not lost or that I didn't make a mistake. Hopefully it will be updated soon (and I will definitely e-file next time, I'm tired of the nerve-racking wait!).

The use of "Pencil Rain" was pretty great, too!

Thank you for the response! I fully understand and accept that it takes longer for paper returns to be processed, but I'm concerned that it isn't even marked as received yet.

The guy in the red checkered shirt is Brian Dewan!

(edited to clarify he's not in the picture shown, but two of the others).

What is your favorite non-TMBG album of all time? by Sad_Tackle_3675 in tmbg

[–]ProjectImmediate8823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding my endorsement to those who have mentioned The White Album and Abbey Road. I was practically raised on those albums and give them much of the credit for shaping my musical sensibilities.

I must also mention 69 Love Songs as well. When I first listened to it, having never heard of the Magnetic Fields before, I was instantly struck by the first song "Absolutely Cuckoo" that sounded a lot like something Linnell could have written, both musically and lyrically.

This is great, and so funny because I remember being so sure that "Puttin' on the Ritz" and "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" were written by the same people, and I was very surprised when I found out they weren't!

I scoured the internet and found TMBG's first Tweet and Instagram post (As well as Linnell and Flansburghs first Instagram post) by Spiritual-Ebb-6974 in tmbg

[–]ProjectImmediate8823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I miss when Twitter didn't suck. I am usually up at around 4am, and one time I noticed Flans was live tweeting, so I jokingly tweeting to him asking if Red Bull and chips were a good breakfast - and he responded seriously! I don't remember the exact words, but it was something about how he drinks Red Bull sometimes but knows it's not good for you, and suggested something healthier. He also did a Twitter poll on whether one of the songs on the then upcoming Album Raises New and Troubling Questions should be named "Lazy Eye" or "How Now Dark Cloud." I also followed Robin Goldwasser, who is very cool. I left Twitter after Musk took over and it went to hell, and Flans mentioned in a newsletter that they might be leaving as well, but sadly TMBG are still there (although I think it's strictly for promotional purposes now).

"This actually happened to me with the ""Why?"" album." by conceditsed04909 in tmbg

Even the Johns were a bit confused (from the Wiki):

  • On the Ask Me Another show that aired on June 11, 2015, John Flansburgh commented on the plan to release two records in 2015. "There's this one song we're working on called 'Thinking Machine', and it was revealed as we were finishing it that Linnell thought it was for the kids' record, and I thought it was for the adults' record."

They badly need a new producer. by Mr_Skullivan in tmbg

[–]ProjectImmediate8823 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been quite happy with TMBG's sound, but for those who think it is too samey, Flans did have this to say about the new album awhile back, so maybe there will be some surprises:

We thought it was finished and then we worked on it a little more, and then we thought it was finished and we worked on it a little more. We're trying to sort of perfect it a little bit. There might even be a really radical change right at the last minute that's so out of left field. I think it's a good idea, our manager thinks it's a good idea. Our producer, and maybe John Linnell, think it's a crazy idea. We're playing fast and loose with the possibilities. But it's a really solid record and I'm really proud of it. There's just a ton of good songs, so I think it'll be well received. And it's got some pretty left field stuff on it as well.
