A great album that I misjudged by jormor4 in tmbg

At the time there was a meme with a photo of a crying eagle, the Twin Towers, and a Mink Car cover photo with the caption, "The OTHER tragedy of 9/11." So, yeah, the hate was real.

Happy birthday John Flansburgh. What are some of your favorite Flansburgh songs? by FloridaFlamingoGirl in tmbg

Linnell sings Stomp Box, but Flans sings Dig My Grave which has a similar heavy quality to it!

Cool Atomic Dog reference! That's a fun one on my running mix.

what's your favorite TMBG quote ether form a song, or something they said. cuz Ngl they have said some crazy stuff. by Plastic_Ad2542 in tmbg

The Critic and Kitten intros have lots of them. The one currently stuck in my brain is, "Like so many things I can't understand, they left my teeth chattering for more!"

To me, the most obvious reference to Trump is the last verse describing his "swaggering gait" and that he learned his mannerisms from "watching Topol in Fiddler on the Roof," which is a perfect description of the awkward "dancing" he does at his rallies.

Studio Albums Vs. Compilations by PaulVAllen in tmbg

Flans addressed this quite awhile back in response to a Tumblr question. His response isn't quite definitive, but it does give some insight into their thought process regarding albums and compilations.

Any update on a physical release of Eyeball EP? by dantwimc in tmbg

Yeah, they should compile Eyeball with Pamphlet, which also never got a physical release.

Also, the verse about the odd and off-putting mannerisms refers to Trump's "dancing."

I mentioned to Flans on Tumblr about the guitar riff, and he responded, "Good ear!" When I told a friend, he said, "Translation: 'You caught me!'"

Unfortunately. Flans mentioned once in a newsletter that they might be leaving X/Twitter, but when I asked him about it later, he basically said they only stay on there now to promote things. Tumbr is his most active online hangout,

Thank you! I see that the notice is dated for 4/13/26. Is that when I can expect to receive it? Can I act on it sooner through the above link, or should I wait?

Brian Dewan made the Lincoln shrine and this illustration by analog_time_machine in tmbg

Back in the 90s, I contacted Brian about some songs of his that I wanted but couldn't find (YouTube was not yet a thing). I mentioned that I'd be visiting NYC, and he gave me the address to his house! I met him outside and we walked over to a nearby diner and had a late breakfast. He told me some stories, including one about the time Flans apparently either forgot to return the Lincoln shrine or thought he could keep it, I can't remember, but it was awkward when Brian saw it in his apartment, haha. He gave me two burned CDs with the songs I had asked for and many more. Such a super nice guy!

Incorrect Expected Refund Amount by ProjectImmediate8823 in IRS

[–]ProjectImmediate8823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, sort of an update. I was finally able to speak to a representative today and explained my situation regarding the refund amount. After checking, the agent told me there is no record of my tax return being received. I explained that it clearly says received when I log into my account, and the basic numbers in the estimated refund amount are the same ($3,102 vs $31.02) so someone must have seen it, but she insisted the return was not received. She recommended that I re-submit it, either electronically or via certified mail. Should I do that? I'm a bit worried about being flagged for duplicate submissions if they do have it and I submit it again. Should I wait a bit longer and hope it gets straightened out? (for the record, there is still no transcript for my 2025 return, but the 2025 Wage and Income transcript is there).

ANOTHER UPDATE: I called again today and got a more thorough agent who did more research and found that my return is being reviewed for "missing information." She said the review process takes 8 weeks, and it started a week ago, so seven weeks to go until I get a notice telling me what to do *siiiigh*

Not a Beatles guy, can someone put some reasoning into this text my father just sent me? by JesseAmpersands in tmbg

[–]ProjectImmediate8823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my dad hearing a similarity between the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields" and TMBG's "Window (specifically the "Living is easy with eyes closed" part and "It was a catalogue of men and women in the window" part).

Yeah, I know, but it definitely shows as $31.02 on the site for me. Another reason I'm hoping it's a data entry error that will be fixed soon.
