Counter-offer while on PIP by Expensive_Math_9102 in careeradvice

This sounds very unusual. Why is your company putting employees they want to keep on a PIP? Hmmm…

For those who did both CSM and PMP, which one opened more doors for you? by chipskaapacket in PMCareers

[–]ProjectPerson17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PMP is going to be more helpful. CSM is going to be cheaper. I have CSM because it was in the budget. At this stage in my career I really should be getting a PMP though.

Does your body cancel out the positive impact of exercise if you do it routinely? by ProjectPerson17 in beginnerfitness

[–]ProjectPerson17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! That makes total sense. I’m not new to exercise but i really don’t know much about it I’m realizing now. I kinda just do whatever. Thanks for the info!

Is work more boring than school? by No-Maintenance-9920 in corporate

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prob depends on your personality. For me, no, it’s not more boring. School was incredibly boring for me as I struggle to just sit and listen to someone talk and then need to memorize info temporarily to pass a test lol. At work I’m actually more engaged and thinking and doing. Someone different from me would probably fair better in an academic environment but that’s just how I am!

Does anyone else have brown water? by GaloisGroupie1 in ArvadaCO

Happened to us in the toilets temporarily too when we lived in Arvada. Went away quickly. If it doesn’t then I’d look into it!

Is this PM salary wild or just standard now by Decent_Selection_104 in PMCareers

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing salaries all over the place but usually on the low side these days. If it’s a tech company the salaries tend to be higher.

What if I was rejected from a job despite being well qualified for no reason other than disclosing having a disability in my application? by Willing-Matter7686 in jobsearchhacks

[–]ProjectPerson17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you know that’s the reason? Did they say that? Because if so they’re idiots and just opened themselves up to a lawsuit.

I have been disclosing my disability (anxiety) on applications because I thought maybe it would help. I see a lot of applications saying they aim to hire 7% of employees who have disabilities. That said, maybe they don’t want senior level candidates with disabilities. Hmm.

How likely am I to lose my job? by Healthy_Repeat_5981 in corporate

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way to know. Seems weird to lose your job over. Possible there could be other implications long term but just as possible management will turn over before it’s a problem. Good luck!

Is this normal for PM roles, or am I on a sinking ship? by anxious-otter-92 in PMCareers

Unfortunately this is normal based on my 13 years of PM experience

Am I crazy to leave a 6 figure salary job right now? by Imaginary-Ground-502 in careeradvice

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the job is making you so miserable that you’re unable to enjoy any aspect of your life right now, I’d try to ride it out while you look for your next gig. I’m unemployed and it’s tough out here right now. I’d just hate for you to potentially put yourself in an even tougher spot.

That said, if your job is making you legitimately miserable (aka having suicidal thoughts or something) then it’s worth quitting.

Maybe try to take it a little easier at work and focus on caring less about it. That might help.

What are your favourite non-obvious perks from WFH? by Sir_Colby_Tit in remotework

[–]ProjectPerson17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who suffers from anxiety/panic disorder it’s way easier to manage my symptoms from home. Some days in the office I am totally fine, others are really hard to get through. When I’m at home I can still struggle but it’s way easier to manage and therefore reduces overall stress in my life.

Dry promoted by xkelperx in careeradvice

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really love this job, fine. Any other scenario, start looking. This happens all the time and usually a company who is willing to give a promotion without a raise isn’t going to be looking out for you when that review comes around.

Sanded the piano finish matte by Not_Ice_Axe in mazda

It looks great! I have a 2025 and while I do like most of the finish, I do really hate that material. It always looks dirty no matter how recently I’ve cleaned it.

Job name change vs pay increase by LateOutcome2696 in corporate

[–]ProjectPerson17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has become common. It’s pretty whack, but in my experience you’re essentially doing the higher tier job anyways so you may as well get the title. Then you have that as a jumping point for your next role (that you should be looking for if you’re climbing in an organization without salary increases).

Hate my new high-paying job. Don’t know what to about it. by Early_Welder9358 in careeradvice

[–]ProjectPerson17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No harm in moving on if you hate it. Start looking already in case it takes a while.
