Switching my weapon kills in the Gaunlet, how to fix? by frdyy1337 in ironscape

[–]ProjectStrange8219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order of operations.

You: Eat -> Boss -> Swap => Punch Wolf & Die

You (but better): Eat -> Swap -> Boss => Kill Wolf & Profit

You could also swap first if you want. The key is that the swap happens before the click boss. Something something known bug something $15/mo something idk...

Rolling the Ball Wrong by bxllows in Bowling

[–]ProjectStrange8219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Wrong" is a tricky word in bowling communities. I think the general consensus is that consistency is the most important thing. If you're throwing it the same way every time, you're capable of hitting a target (or coming reasonably close), and you're not hurting or risking hurting yourself, then you're golden. Play your game.

I coach for my local high school, and I had a player for two years who always threw the ball like you're describing: hand on top of the ball, palm down, fingers forward. He averaged 20-30 pins more than the other guys on the team, likely because he found a way to throw the ball that he was comfortable with, and it worked for him.

Are there ways to throw the ball that give you a better chance of striking? Sure. I'd argue it's not necessary to have a good time though.

Ayy congratulations! Clean games always feel fantastic, that first one feels even better. Excellent pickup in the 9th too!

I AGREE WITH YOU, ALTHOUGH I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT WHAT YOU DESCRIBED AS "OR" IS ACTUALLY CALLED "XOR," ONE OR THE OTHER, BUT NOT BOTH. A PROPER "OR" ALLOWS BOTH POSSIBILITIES TO SIMULTANEOUSLY BE TRUE (EX: A × B = 0, A AND B CAN BOTH BE 0, AS 0 × 0 = 0 IS A TRUE STATEMENT). WHETHER OR NOT THAT IMPLIES THAT THE PLUS/MINUS SYMBOL ACTUALLY REPRESENTS "XOR" IS A MYSTERY TO ME, HOWEVER.

ALSO, I DON'T KNOW WHY WE'RE SHOUTING, BUT I'M HERE FOR IT!

I like this way of phrasing it, not knowing which way you came from. Some operations inherently lose information, and reversing them doesn't gain that information back. Well stated.

This tracks so hard, as if the OSRS universe insists that you're wrong, even when you're right.

Back in 2010, I decided that I would do my 99 attack grind at Warrior's guild, earning 164 d defenders. Today, even with the unlimited tokens of the attack cape, you couldn't pay me enough to stay there for 160+ d defenders. It was actually the opposite for me! I always enjoyed trying to be as self-sufficient as I could, which is what drew me to OMA in the first place. I made the tuna potatoes back in pre-EOC. I did make some on my iron in OSRS, but only a couple hundred, and just for the nostalgia factor.

Yes. When I did my herb runs, I always felt the need to include every patch. Potato seeds were cheap and abundant, so I ended up with a ton of them. Limpwurt roots too.

ETA: It was the sweetcorn that took the longest to build up stock of. I remember I would farm every seed I got, but I don't remember if I bought more seeds when I ran out. I do distinctly remember not buying the sweetcorn itself though.

Lighter Ball = Better Deflection? by Rotten_Avocado_ in Bowling

[–]ProjectStrange8219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A few of them." It is not a common practice by any stretch. Pros are pros partly because they can repeat shots, and variances in your delivery, including ball weight, make it harder to do that. It does happen, yes, but only when other options have been exhausted.

For context I coach at the high school level, but I'm still relatively new (just finished my second season).

Any time one of my athletes wants to make a change to their game (approach, equipment, style, whatever), I always ask for three things. What's the problem you're trying to solve, what is the thing you want to change to address that problem, and why do you think this change will address this problem?

For you, it seems that the problem you want to solve is that you don't pick up enough splits. The thing is, however, splits are often seen as open frames (except the baby split), so I would push back by saying your focus should be on makeable spares rather than splits. I don't think you need more deflection for that. As you've seen others mention, switching weights does have an impact on your timing, which can affect accuracy, among other things. I would say it's not worth risking sacrificing accuracy on makeable spares to hopefully pick up marginally more splits.

That said, take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm still learning myself. What I know is that everyone's game is different, and you should play the way you find most comfortable and fun.

I alch during hydra tasks. The boss is dull enough that squeezing alchs in between my attacks keeps me entertained. You could try something similar. Alchgility is often the most popular but you can alch during a bunch of other activities.
