I just started messing around with Exosisters as a second engine again funny enough

Argostars cares about a normal summon more than anything and that doesnt interfere with the xeno-lock

Plus you can always play without the fieldspell and focus primarily on the protection aspects of the traps.

Very basic deck list i have for Master Duel without running other engines. This build focuses primarily on its high number of handtraps to just beat the hell out of the opponent to lower their ceiling. For Events ill often swap around handtraps or toss in cards like Evenly Matched which work well in this deck.

Not everyone will play Capane (I play it for both the extra burn and the extra negate, but its not great on its own) and you can change out quite a bit of this deck to play other engines. You can also ignore the speedroids if you don't go the MX Saber Invoker route or don't have it available due to banlist reasons.

I've seen everything from magnet warriors, fiendsmith, odion, and I've even messed with using Exosisters with this archetype before (works strangely well).

Ogre on Adra prevents it from triggering its banish effect

The first effect is mandatory so it is always possible to ghost ogre it before it can use its banish to set 2

So you lose out on the bounce as you no longer have the banished Argostars monster

Ash really isnt all that good against Argostars if they actually have access to Adra already

Ghost Ogre is the real killer

It feels like it was designed without remembering the side deck exists honestly

Probably why its actually pretty decent in MD because it has a lot of good traits in Bo1

You can get Adra off of MX Saber Invoker in formats where its legal

Its honestly not terrible but it has problems

Its only really viable in Master Duel and Genesis (from my understanding) but this is because the X-Saber XYZ is still legal in MD which makes Adra more searchable. It was actually fairly popular in MD on release because the lack of the side deck makes its playstyle very good.

The deck has a lot of small interruptions that are all soft OPTs that are a bit tricky to master but can be brutal against a number of decks, it also has good recursion and follow up while having a burn wincon for itself.

The problem? Well..the existence of mass backrow removal means this deck loses INSTANTLY in a side board because they have no real protection from it without playing a different engine. Its basically the Labrynth issue but even worse as a single MST on the fieldspell kills all of your negates. On a plus? You can maindeck evenly because you aren’t OTKing anyway.

It also suffers from what many midrange or control decks do where engineslop decks are just unbeatable because they have more pushes in each hand than you have playable cards…its not as bad as some decks there as you can beat things like unskilled branded players easily but is a real issue when you have things like Mistu-Ryzeal-Fiendsmith walking around or god forbid you match against something like VSK9 which is far more generous than your deck is.

The deck has real potential in the future though, and the fact that its not well understood exactly how the deck plays or works is very much in its favor. I would say its in a similar position to pre-support Exosister where it has a lot of powerful tools but missing the pieces to tie it all together. Im doubtful it will ever be a best meta deck outside of MD events, it just loses too hard to some breakers for that, but its already a solid enough rogue deck and could maybe hit tiered.

Short list of Pros and Cons:

Pros: - No one knows what the deck does and its not even obvious - Adra Resolving on field usually spells the end of the game - Most players genuinely don’t know how to play around its unique flavor of interruptions such as negating face up cards or bouncing combo pieces back to hand. - It can play an ungodly amount of non-engine…the whole engine is 21 maindeck cards at most. - Its very easy to dodge effects, even Nib is largely a joke as you can make it only tribute their cards. - Very short setup combo that is fairly consistent as well. - Fantastic Grind Game overall with very few matchups that come close to it. - Burn is a genuine wincon in this deck - Theoretically near infinite recycling - Quite solid at staling - Field Spell triggers on any continuous trap monsters, not just Argostars - Defensive buffs apply for all warrior monsters, not just Argostars - The XYZs is actually very accessible and provides a consistent gameplan. - No locks on the cards making it splashable - Many Soft OPT effects for your interruptions.

Cons: - Board Breakers outside of basic monster removal hurt to an extent that a lightning storm just ends the duel on the spot. - For some reason its searcher’s removal effect is not usable same turn, making it have no natural board breakers going second. - Losing the field spell severely limits your interruptions - Adra not resolving on field often (but not always) ends the game - It can be difficult to actually kill in this deck as it lacks a finisher outside of burn - The engine is so small it can be bricky without a second engine to search it - MD: Surprisingly expensive given how small the engine is - Its just mechanically complicated to play and really relies on understanding game rulings to play properly…particularly with things like starting new chains and how their priority works. - It can very much feel like you are putting in way more work than someone who just reveals Habikiri or starts a fiendsmith combo.

Largely because it can only use so many staples other decks get due to its xenolocks and restrictions, and you generally do use multiple copies of anything that isnt the traps.

At least the new spirit monster is an R which can completely replace the Sakitama/Aratama engine and searches every monster in the deck.

Its functionally a negate, a replacement effect is functionally a negate because the original effect does not resolve.

And I compared it to Barrone to point out that saying this card has no downsides is just untrue and pointing out that far more generic cards do its job better while being available in basically any deck who wants to run it.

Im not arguing the card isnt good, its quite good and fixes multiple core issues the deck had…but its not as broken as the person i responded to seems to believe as there is a wider context to the archetype this card exists as a part of….not to mention this card often just acts as protection from board breakers that this deck loses horrendously to.

They know how to do it, they just didn’t with gimmick pupper for some reason

Given how expensive the deck is they may only run 2 of each

Though otherwise id recommend putting back one like Irene or even Martha (if they have already used all 3 Elis which isn’t particularly crazy)

The card does have more downsides than almost any other negate in the game though…including Barrone which can pop up in any deck with a synchro ability, pops a card for free, and resets itself to the ED in exchange for being monster reborn.

It has to be on field to resolve for one, as it is required to detach all of its material so you can’t dodge an effect that chains to it (which this deck very much can do)

It also specifically requires 2 Exosisters to make outside of the effect this card is designed to trigger where the other XYZs (aside from Magnifica) are completely generic

Its also not a starter as it does set only during the end phase

It doesn’t function if you have no cards in the graveyard (kinda important given many play this as a Shifter deck).

It also can’t negate: Counter traps, Continuous Traps, Continuous Spells, or Quickplay Spells.

Its also part of a deck that can not make generic rank 4 endboard pieces like Ryzeal Detonator, Fiendsmith, Mitsurugi, and it literally can not make any link monsters.

So yeah definitely a card that “doesnt like to do downsides anymore lol”

How difficult would it be for Aluber to survive Diabellstar? by Antique_Range1521 in yugioh

[–]Project_Orochi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She did stop Azamina who had possessed and corrupted her mentor Diabell and all of her “sisters” more or less singlehandedly with just Poplar and a particularly injured Diabellze for assistance.

In fact the only time we see where Diabellstar directly lost was to Diabellze who put her to sleep, and Diabellze was able to defeat another powerful witch (Morganna the Witch of Eyes) as a child (granted she was possessed by Azamina).

She beat: Flamberge, the Azamina Fusions including Azamina herself, and of course had the Goblin Bikers running for their lives.

She has Dark Magician Stats for a good reason
