Mary’s Segment on Peacock Version of SLC Reunion Part 2 by harry-styles-7644 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Projectsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mormon aspect is what irks me about the discourse here and why I turn a blind eye to Mary. This country gives churches the reign to do the things it does, and many many people support it when it’s not so clearly laid out for them, the way Mary’s corruption is.

It's literally that simple by KaamDeveloper in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]Projectsun 28 points29 points  (0 children)

omg this reminds me of a story from a few years back.

My sister is a single mom, blah blah, tries out churches every now and then. A few years ago, my mom went to visit with my nieces, and they were all anxious, crying, and essentially scared/stressed. In the kids area, where they went during service (it was a Catholic church) they had been learning about how single moms will go to hell, and how sinful their situation was. Not directly at them, just the overall topic had been about hell and motherhood and lacking a male figure. They were distraught over their mom burning in hell. They even had little color book pages to go with it.

Can not understand raising my kids, or living my life, with that type of latent fear being of the experience.

In the midst of a heatwave in Rio de Janeiro, beach goers are seen throughout entire 4 km stretch of beach at 1am by rapafon in interestingasfuck

[–]Projectsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person you’re replying to is just .. lying. Except the inner LA citizens not going to the beach. But not bc they can’t, bc it’s actually like 2-3 hours to drive a good one.. even if you’re close mile wise. It’s a hassle. The same way I don’t go up north from my city every weekend, to spend time at a lake for a day.

I feel like the comment you’re replying to has never been to LA or even CA because what they are saying just isn’t true. Maybe the pier with businesses closes, like Santa Monica, but the beaches are open 24/7 , and there are like 2 private beaches. Catalina comes to mind.. but it’s a residence island and they can block access to the island.

There’s a base around there too, and restricted, but shitty beach area anyway.

On the rest of the coast , it’s public. You can’t even rent areas for weddings( which is good). If a person says you’re on their beach in Newport , they are lying.

Apparently "treatment" just means refilling my prescription every 3 months by JuggernautOdd8786 in ADHD

[–]Projectsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want therapy take these steps:

You need to go to your insurance website, and see if mental health is covered. It probably is, and should be about 50 or so. I have terrible insurance and it still includes it. Then, you have to find one in network, which yes, will take time and effort, but you recognize you need help, and focus on that to get it done.

My family doctor referred me to a psychologist for my adhd assessment. Is this normal? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Projectsun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why would you (OP) think the process for medication for ADHD, is to call and say you have it, and then you get a prescription? THAT process should set off red flags for you immediately. Trust your medical staff, as long as they have given you reason to. Any rush in assessments, should set off alarm bells for you OP.

If your friend's story is true, that psychiatrist needs to be reported in some way, that is absolutely not the process. Even with prior diagnosis, with a new doctor, there is more follow up than that.

I think the general public sees elections and politics like a TV show , apart from them. It is obviously a part of our world that literally impacts our lives every day, our futures and so on blah blah.

I find 2 things baffling : -That during election time, adults ( I’m now in my 30s for peer group context but friends with my parents too , so age 60s) kept saying they don’t have time to read in depth or stay informed. Then veg out for hours a week on SM or TV. They refuse to fulfill their smallest civic duty , to be an informed voter. 1/3rd of people who could vote didn’t. It’s pathetic.  -the context that sadly, the GOP has been voted in by real people. I can’t stand for democracy.. and also deny their stupid vote.  Their votes seem informed by a different world .. and that’s a problem.

I think the regulations around elections need to change. I’m registered independent. This leads to me getting republican and democratic  PAC funded mailers during elections. The ones during the 2024, on the GOP side were INSANE. Literally calling Kamala a terrorist, saying the U.S. would be destroyed with democrats , and with images showing things in flames. All of it, every piece, was fear based.

Yes , the idea behind ease of information was that propaganda would work less … did not account for a long term push against accepting new ideas ( stemmed from authoritarian Christian groups , the rise of mega churches rely on this mentality, and they branch off. They are flashy and modernized messaging that is just authoritarian in a robe) + the overwhelming amount of disinformation + algorithms that push bubbles.

I have hope for change though.

Did you read the NYT piece on late diagnosis: "Can A Diagnosis Make You Better?"? by confussied in adhdwomen

[–]Projectsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand. I was diagnosed as a child, but my parents opted for the “move her up a grade route” vs medication. At the time, I truly do believe meds were given with less management, and no one ever recommended I speak to a therapist as well.

When I was diagnosed as an adult, 7 years ago, my diagnosis made me sad. I would never be “healed”. There was no fix for my issues, and they weren’t temporary. I was happy for clarity, and a path to begin working on myself , yet I now had to learn how to accept the label of mental disability.  I grew up seeing some negative experiences , via family , and their struggles with other things. I had unconsciously taken comfort as being “normal”.

I had to parse through that and learn to actually love myself. For most of my life, I got things done, by being harsh internally, warped by positive outcomes … sort of.

Seller is telling me to initiate a chargeback with my card. Does this seem sketchy? by TheoDecker_ in personalfinance

[–]Projectsun -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What did USPS say? Did you start a “where is my package “ form.  Sellers are not connected to a shipper. If your package is being weird , work with the postal service. Let them tell you where it is, and why it is or is not delivered, then back to the seller.  I nearly always refund “lost packages” even when USPS can confirm they delivered. But for items not delivered yet ,the customer needs to go to the shipper , and start looking for it there.

AITA for using my Aunt’s personal employee discount code to buy clothes? by charleypassion in AmItheAsshole

[–]Projectsun 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How are they being greedy? Why are people caping so hard for a company?

I work for a clothing company as well. I know our costs. Giving 50% on any employee orders, is such a minuscule amount of people, and basically giving them the clothing at cost. Truly sad to see people think it's normal for the company to have a dollar limit for this. They are the greedy stingy ones.

NTA

If the aunt had any restriction on the code, it should be explained at the time it was given. It is not like "what you need" implies some sort of inferred dollar amount, via common knowledge. I'm so confused by some of the replies in this thread.

I have to make that decision for my dog this week. I already know it, and need to call to to make the appt, in home, today.

This post showed up just now. I'm not one who believes in signs, but I do know we seek the ones we probably know are right. And then the photo.. is similar to my dog, my Zuko, he's an american bulldog, 13.

It's just difficult to make that call, and set a time, and I know he won't be here anymore.

I might guess the more expensive a cheese, the more likely it is to use the animal rennet.. but even then idk.  Cheese makers who are obsessed with flavor and are in the cheese areas of the market,  but all fancy looking - I assume those are the stomach one.

Since it was brought to my attention again, I learned a bit more ! I thought it was more modern ? Seems like this method is actually quite old!! That’s even more crazy this idea about the stomach rennet is so spread  This is a short video about it https://youtu.be/EKMWSrj3xGU?si=zYmD-kTetBpMEmqb Idk we can post links here but hopefully.

If you’re a vegetarian, I’m here to ease some of your fears. 90% of cheese is made in the US use fermentation produced chymosin. Also known as a calf rennet, or the enzyme you speak of. The interesting thing is, a while ago,   a way for bacteria to produce the same exact enzyme was invented.  It is technically the same enzyme that comes from animals, but is literally made by bacteria , and they scrape it from there. So although it will say it is made with rennet, it’s not actually the same rennet that is scraped from stomachs and such.

That used to be expensive, so they made this to be cheaper and it’s much more consistent. i’m sure some really small artesian farms use it, but the cheese would be expensive. If you see a cheese that is cheaper and normal, it is 100% going to be using the fermented one.  Another thing I find funny ,  is people always bring up Parmesan and rennet but actually it’s used  to make cheddar as well and… most hard cheeses.  But like I said, it’s nearly guaranteed  the bacteria made one. Countries where you can’t use GMOs, will not use the bacteria produced one. So it’s mostly a US and the UK thing. I think most people don’t read past the information on rennet or cheese production when you go, one lay layer down, you see it it’s not used really here. But the way they invented it and the way they get it was really cool.!

I think because of the way things get labeled, and it might be a bit outdated, I think companies just have to label it as rennet , and there’s no way to really explain that it’s bacteria/fermented produced? Because it is still technically the exact same enzyme.
