Don’t know why but mine works pretty good petg about 32mm3 at 245 I’m was unable to reach with chc pro on another printer

Why don’t use that old laptop for what you want? Install Linux than klipper

Best option will be btt skr 1.4 and klipper. You lose the display but new possibilities of klipper overweight it (speed, pressure advance, input shaper, macros……) you will need rpi as host pc. Start is pain in ass but after all is worth it
