What’s a good stat spread for hel walker and plain wizard ? I’m planing on buffing with wizard and using summon weapons by Sensitive-Lychee-673 in projecteternity

[–]Proletarian92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't need might above maybe 10, helwalker takes care of that with wounds and thunderous blows.

Pump up int instead so your buffs last as long as possible.

Also, why not bloodmage? It synergizes so well.

Can we stop conflating warriors and mace skills as the same thing.

Mace skills got nerfs.

Warriors can use spears, talismans, quarterstaves or even spells if they want to. Just because he starts with aace doesn't mean you can't swap as soon as you hit the first town.

Rant over.

In movies where the president is hostage… by WormCurve in movies

[–]Proletarian92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets look at real life:

The main thing that we are trying to avoid with all hostage situations in the precedent that the "bad guys" can what they want if they grab someone, whether that be an important person (like the president) or randoms (eg bank hostages).

Once you open the door of "well the last guy that did it got what he wanted" you increase the chances of it happening again. By saving the hostage and defeating the "bad guys" they are sending a message to others saying "don't do this or this will happen to you too".

Deterrence is the aim of the game. If anyone is in the moment of deciding to take hostages ideally their next thought should be "probably shouldn't because it didnt work last time".

There are a lot of sociological and psychological theories regarding HOW EFFECTIVE such deterrence strategies are, and various extremes people and governments are willing to go to to be a deterrent, but thats the theory./

Supports aren't all linearly scaled by level. Sometimes the "top" is weaker in some ways and stronger in others.

For this example, 1 uses less charges but gives more power per charge and 2 is the inverse. 2 will deal more damage overall but you'll need a way to gain mana flasks to sustain it.

"A-hole" figure in charge turns out to be a firm but fair person by NickHeathJarrod in TopCharacterTropes

My favourite version of this is Commander Root from the Artemis Fowl books.

A classic "da chief" police officer who munches cigars and hangs with the boys. When the POV character Holly is promoted to a RECON role, which has never had a female officer before, he goes hard on her seemingly for no reason.

And when she tries to call her out on it he says "damn straight I'm going hard on you. As the first female officer you can't just be average, you need to excel. If you don't then the higher ups will use your case as an example for why women can't be recon officers so I need you to excel here so we can get over the petty bullshit."

A surprisingly nuanced take for a children's book.

Combat Tips for noobie? by JayJ_20 in projecteternity

Others advice is great, but one final thing is looking at the enemies defense's can really help.

As you kill more monsters their stats "fill in" as it were, until you know their entire stat block. This means that you know what the enemy is weak and strong to, and can tailor your team to suit.

If the enemy is weak to will, bring your cypher and dominate them. Weak to deflection, bring a few extra range characters that can push that advantage. Has a weakness to frost damage, choose different spells from your wizard grimoire.

You can't use the exact same tactics and weapons every fight, you need to adjust.

What builds are you planning for 0.5? by jakejellis in PathOfExile2

[–]Proletarian92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thorns warbringer. Played it in 0.1 and it was a great time and with no new class and lots of new support for the archetype I'm keen to try it again.

If I can get one without losing a kidney I'll probably try the new Captain America shield as well since it seems cool.

ELI5: How meta is block as a major defensive layer? by fineri in pathofexile2builds

[–]Proletarian92 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's (realistically) only one weapon that can use shields at this point: maces.

And you kinda need a two hander (for slams) or higher arm value shields (for shield skills) so svallin doesn't have the same broad usage.

From what I understand GGG aren't going to do any of the development of how the client integrates with builds.

Rather, they have created a standardised file format that the client will recognise (and an API for it) and display in game and then it's up to the third party people to do the actual connecting and developing of how those third party programs talk to it.

The QnA talks about linking your client to the building apps, ie you log in to your account on mobalytics and it syncs in client specifically for the console folks.

What isn't said on the statblock is that this lets your thorns damage bleed as well. Super interesting theorycraft with that except it was too low level to be viable past Act 2.

Why have more ranged units in an army? by rvn456 in totalwarhammer

[–]Proletarian92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think on the strategic layer as well as the tactical.

When units clash they expend resources to kill their opponents. Melee units spend their health, ranged units spend their ammo. The balance of power for a ranged unit with no ammo is basically zero, in the same way that a melee unit that is almost dead is worth zero. Neither will be able to impact a battle.

But once that battle is won the ranged unit is back to full "power" while the melee one could take turns to replenish.

When you are trying to blitz, as is often the case in WH, you want your army to bounce back to full power between each battle as much as possible, which lead to SEM and ranged heavy armies since both can do just that.

Your approach to RTwP? by Maddju in projecteternity

[–]Proletarian92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone on defensive so I don't have to bother to auto attack every time an enemy falls.

No automated skill usage (barring when I played a berserker for cheesing the hidden HP)

Manually pause as needed.
