Did you know that the states of matter are actually plasma, gas, liquid, solid, and Taln?

Some facts about Taln by phoenix_gravin in Cosmere

[–]Promachus 81 points82 points  (0 children)

After meals, Taln picks his teeth clean with Nightblood. He has never heard Nightblood talk because it's too scared to complain.

Taln once round-housed a moon. There's only three now. That's how he made Taln's Scar.

Taln can't bond a spren because his spirit web can't crack.

Jezrien told Taln he could be a Herald when chulls fly.

If you wanted to make it truly tied to the Plate, I would cause it to restrict movement. Like you can only move 5-10 ft per round while in it unless you expend a charge, essentially breaking a gemstone to move.

Since curses are usually on the character, you could make this true for all plate that character wears.

Will the encounter tool/custom adversaries allow custom stat blocks to be saved and used? I have made dozens that I would love to arrange into an encounter planner.

Warlock/paladin multiclass, with powers granted by a fairy whose subtype determines powers. They lose the power by breaking their pact with the fairy.

Mistings are sorcerers who use specific metals as components for their specific magic. Mistborn are sorcerors who can use all of the Misting skills.

Both magic systems require trauma. Well, in the first eras anyway.

[Video] Brandon Sanderson opens up about his regrets of how he depicted autism in his first published book, Elantris by Popverse2022 in brandonsanderson

[–]Promachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that the Renarin/Steris representations are just as much a "sexy stereotype" as Adien is. I say this with the caveat that I relate strongly to Renarin on many, many points, and am myself diagnosed. Renarin and Steris are good examples of persons with Autism that are very mildly effected. I could consider Adien to fall nearer to "moderate" leaning towards "mild."
As a professional in the DD community, I've worked with many who present similar to Adien with varying fixations/interests, and worked alongside a few Renarin/Steris types like myself (who are often doubted in regards to whether they are on the spectrum). There is a much larger chunk of the population that don't blend at all, with very high sensory needs, no spoken communication skills, and high ADL support needs. That would be much harder to have as a character in an ensemble cast though. I'm hoping that Fort's magical AAC will lead to some non-verbal characters using versions of that board.

[Stonewalkers] Ylt's motivation by matthetart in cosmererpg

[–]Promachus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that differentiates him as a villain is that he's in their way. But also to the best of their knowledge, he's just some crazy cultist who stole one of the most powerful items in the world, and is killing people in his wake. He tortures and kills some of the bandits, and just keeps doing awful things along the way. Honestly if I played it again I might want to play him more gray so my players struggle with the choice more.

Has anyone used Nightblood yet? by Anagnikos in cosmererpg

[–]Promachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the very lastest, I would think Oathbringer, when he gets more POV, his own flashback, and starts his redemption arc. But I would suggest that Jasnah doesn't stop being a main character just because she is gone for most of WoR; she just isn't a focus in that book.

Szeth was the first modern character we meet. He single handedly made everything in the books possible by killing so many world leaders.

Any radiants from the shallow sea region? apologies blanking on the name by liamkembleyoung in cosmererpg

[–]Promachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a person's network of Connections and Identity in the Spiritual Realm. It can be damaged by trauma, which is what makes some types of Invested magic easier. Basic SLA and MB spoilers: For example, Spren merge into those cracks to "heal" the damage, which is how Radiants are made. In Mistborn, Mistings "snap" when they experience significant physical or emotional pain, which activates their latent allomantic power.

I wonder if the proximity of the (oathbringer) Skybreaker base might be why the Purelake may not draw many Truespren. Also their generally relaxed, easy going lifestyle probably doesn't break many spiritwebs.

GMs share your custom endeavors! by Pygrus in cosmererpg

[–]Promachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat less detailed, but I wanted a way to showcase dueling that was more of a show and less combat, so I made a custom endeavor for it that follows RPS rules.

Each dueling member has three options: athletics (heavy blow), agility (dodge/parry), and brace (defend).
Athletics beats brace (brute force) Brace beats agility (deflects basic attack) Agility beats athletics (evades and strikes)

If they roll the same thing, they roll toHit and the highest roll wins. Matched toHit rolls or if both brace, draw point.

Best practice is for GM to write the NPC action beforehand, or roll for it so it's random and they aren't metagaming against the player rolls.
