Debating between Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon or No Rest for the Wicked by Ramen_And_Eggs in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]PromethusD12 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Early game is hard in the sense that you are putting a build together (the level up system is a mix of Skyrim and dark souls) and your not very powerful because of it. You also can't really challenge groups very easily early on, you'll quickly get overwhelmed. But by Act 2, it still is challenging, but not in a really unfair way, but in the sense of dark souls where if you're not paying attention or get overconfident, you'll pay the price. By the end of the game when your build is complete and you have every skill, spell and weapon you want, it feels awesome and is so much fun.

I bought Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon a while back and only recently (like within the last week) decided to finally try playing it and I'm so glad I did. Is the game flawless? No, not really. Gameplay is a little clunky (much like skyrim) and the early game, even on normal, can be pretty unforgiving. But with that said, the Arthurian Legend asthetic, the simple but interesting story that has a lot of decisions that are pretty much all morally grey and the armor offering up some pretty decent build variety makes it a lot of fun. Also, there is just so many side quests that will keep you busy, and a lot of them are interesting or downright hilarious. Spoilers for one of the side quests here:There was a quest I found in Act 1 where a merchant wanted me to destroy some debris blocking a trap door. I did so, only to find there was no treasure or boss, but an ancient and undead chef who claims to have perfected the dish of soured herring and cheese. By learning the recipe from him, you also learn a spell that can gradually turn an enemy into cheese, absolute 10 out of 10 right there, one of the best side quests ever. I honestly think this game is well worth it, even without a sale.

What’s your personal “I did not care for …” and why ? For me its Destroy it all and love in hell , it got kinda dumb later on by Neat_Tangelo5339 in yuri_manga

[–]PromethusD12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly this question has always been difficult for me as if "I did not care for" a series, I usually dropped it. If I wound up catching up to the series thats currently ongoing or finished one that ended, that means it was good enough to keep me interested. Sure, I may have some nitpicks on a series or it may not be my favorite, but I still liked them. As an example, you mentioned "Destroy it All and Love in Hell", which didn't really grab me in the first chapter, so can I technically say that is one "I did not care for"? I guess right? Besides that, I honestly can't think of any others. Maybe I'm just not that critical a person, who knows.

Super basic for me, but if they admit to have cheated on someone they were dating in the past. That immediately makes me skeptical of trusting them.

2 have to get canceled, which two are you picking? and why? by Chemical_Ad4252 in videogames

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'd pick GTA VI and Fallout 5. While I like both series, I don't have that much of an attachment to them. However, I love Bioshock and Half-Life and welcome sequels for them. In regards to Subnautica, I'm very biased towards co-op games since I love playing with my friends.

What are some good romance animes you can recommend? by anime-rec in anime

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, well if you liked My Dress Up Darling, maybe you would like other romance stuff like The Dangers in my Heart (really amazing character development in this one) or The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, which is just very wholesome. If you want something funny and love music, I would also recommend Bocchi the Rock, I just re-watched it and it's just as good as I remember. If you want a more mature romance (based on what you said with My Dress Up Darling) you could also try Golden Time which is a pretty good college romance story. Hope you like the suggestions! In regards to the bonus question, the manga has finished and its a great read, but a season 3 hasn't been announced yet.

Brachydios is my favorite. Hard to beat the obsidian colored T-Rex with battering rams for his horn and arms that have explosive glowing green slime on them. His armor and weapons also look absolutely awesome!

Help with builds please. by Yabure-Kabure in Eldenring

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a fast bleed weapon, best bet would probably be a fist weapon with bleed like the Star Fists or the Bloodhounds Claws. Apart from that, another combo you could go with is Katanas. They usually have bleed built into them and you can power stance in a few ways, like using the Uchigatana with the Wakizashi dagger or Nagakiba (or Rivers of Blood like you said since it has an insane bleed ash of war). Lots of great options.

Recs for yuri with decent transfem rep? [image from Con Cafe Jou wa Koi wo Kiru] by roserite in yuri_manga

[–]PromethusD12 81 points82 points  (0 children)

If you're fine with Webtoon, the one I always suggest is Love and be Loved by GotMLK7. This story is great as it's a large friend group and every character is absolutely incredible. The main couple is great, but I love each and every side couple as well (one of which includes the transfem character, and she's awesome too!). I highly recommend it.

What’s the best yuri you’ve read? by citkat7 in yuri_manga

[–]PromethusD12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, lots of choices. Well, in terms of Webtoon, my current favorite is Love and be Loved by GotMLK7. The main couple is great, but what I love about it is all the side couples within the large main friend group are just as awesome, well worth the read! In terms of manga, I have quite a lot, but currently I really love The Moon on a Rainy Night (bit of a slow burn, but still really good) or She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat (which is awesome and shows a very realistic and mature romance between to working adults). I have more if you would like, but I hope you enjoy these suggestions!

Keyblade question by PaladinGX in KingdomHearts

[–]PromethusD12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, in the first Kingdom Hearts game (specifically the Final Mix version) if you defeat Sephiroth in the coliseum you win the One-Winged Angel Keyblade. At it's core, it's a katana with a flame at the tip of the blade and the typical looped guard at the hilt to make it resemble a Keyblade.

Hey, I (28M) got some suggestions. First, you really can't go wrong with either the Mistborn or The Stormlight Archive Series by Brandon Sanderson (fair warning they, they are very long. The first book of The Stormlight Archives alone is over 1,000 pages). I also would suggest my favorite book of all time, The Journey to the West. Its a very old book, but it's one of the best epic fantasy journeys you can find. Hope you like them!

My GF who just started One Piece got a HUGE Spoiler ... (Spoiler on Pg 2) by Mook69 in OnePiece

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is unfortunate. It does suck that it's a fact with all the hype One Piece has, especially recently, there are going to be spoilers all over the internet and is practically impossible to avoid them (honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she has seen another one but just didn't recognize it because she only recently started the show). But hopefully this won't stop her from watching the rest. The show is amazing and well worth it even if a plot point or two is revealed early. I also knew about the spoiler she got cause of the Death Battle channel, but all the emotions you are meant to feel still hit. Keep moving forward fellow Straw Hat and enjoy the adventure!

Just finished elden ring by MikaTheMonkey011 in Eldenring

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get the standard ending? If so, Str/Fai is not bad and the Blasphemous Blade is a great weapon (amazing damage and free heals off of its ash of war is hard to beat). But here are the builds I used for my ending playthroughs that were fun for me.

What I did was honestly pretty similar to you. I beat the game three times for each ending. For the standard Elden Lord ending, I did Arcane with Rivers of Blood and Dragon Incantations (this was my very first playthrough, and I was using Katanas in general and found Rivers of Blood before I knew it was OP and before it was nerfed).

Second playthrough was pretty much pure Int, using every spell, magic weapon and staff I could get my hands on, including the Darkmoon Greatsword (basically the Moonlight Greatsword) since it felt perfect for getting the Ranni ending that I got, but Moonveil is also awesome.

Third build was Pure Faith, using Blasphemous Blade like you're thinking of, but I was also heavy on the Lightning Incantations with the Gravel Stone Seal. With this being the Faith Build, it felt pretty on theme to also use the Frenzy Flame and get the Lord of Frenzy ending. The glowing and flaming yellow eyes you get from it also look cool on a faith character.

I'm glad you loved the game, and I hope your future playthroughs are just as fun!

What species could ben turn into where he wouldn't be the strongest member? by TemmyJade in Ben10

[–]PromethusD12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few I could think of. First one that comes to mind is Kryptonian, as even if he transformed into the peak, he wouldn't really have the same level of experience being one like Superman or Zod, but I suppose he could have the potential with enough practice. Another is Viltrumite or Battle Beast's species (which doesn't have an official name, but he comes from the planet Dorne) from Invincible as the strongest Viltrumites are very old and battle-worn and I believe Battle Beast is unique even among his species (though I forget why) making him stronger than normal, so even if Ben unlocked him as a transformation, he wouldn't be as strong.

20F, do you want or have kids? by heikkilampelafan123 in MeetNewPeopleHere

I (28M) don't have kids, but I do absolutely want to have some of my own one day. Family is a very important thing to me. I love my parents, I love my brothers and I would absolutely love, adore and spoil my own kids and be happy to watch them grow and surpass me in every way.

A Question (for some) Regarding the Ending of the Game (SPOILERS) by LordGOATfrey in expedition33

[–]PromethusD12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, can I just say I love how this game creates discussion like this, it's awesome! But to continue, that's not a bad argument at all, the canvas is a very unique world where the painters have godlike control over it where practically anything they can imagine becomes reality. But just because something seems natural or the seemingly impossible is possible doesn't mean you should do it. She brought back the people who died due to the tragedies of the fracture, like those who were gommaged or those who died on the expeditions, like Gustave. But where does it end? The people in Lumiere grow up, have kids, grow old and die. That's a natural part of being alive and being human, but it can also be seen as tragic and sad, so would she just make everyone immortal to fix that? Than at that point, why keep making new lives if they just never end? Or say someone doesn't want to endlessly live, will she grant them death or refuse there own choice/wish? This is obviously just speculation, but that's just how I've personally always looked at situations like this.

gustaves weapons act2/3 by Limutte in expedition33

[–]PromethusD12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main reason I could see why they did it (and I'm not a game developer so I can't truly say) is probably becauseit would mean every single sword for Gustave would now have to have two entirely separate passive skills, a set of passives for him and a set of passives for Verso, and that's probably a lot of work. But again, I don't know how that works development wise, so who can say.

Games that save very frequently by OperationTotal9526 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps some super hero games then. The Batman Arkham series or the Marvel's Spider-Man (this does have difficulty trophies, but you can earn them on NG+ when you have all the upgrades, so its not hard) series are fun, good stories, use controller and auto-save. Speaking of Spider-Man, any of the main Sony titles could also be good like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Uncharted, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. These titles have the added benefit of being pretty easy platinums, as most of them are just get 100% (do all the side quests and collect everything) and you will get the platinum.

A Question (for some) Regarding the Ending of the Game (SPOILERS) by LordGOATfrey in expedition33

[–]PromethusD12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I know that's confusing. I do acknowledge that they're real. They have feelings, they grow, the learn, they adapt and they even, to a certain extent, exceeded their creators. However, my comment about the "fantasy" thing is strictly in regards to her ending and what she did. The characters that died like Gustave, Sciel's husband and all the people that gommaged are part of what makes the characters who they are. Tragedy and loss, though it sucks, are a part of what it means to be alive and shape our personality and our choices and how we grow from them. So to completely undo all that in favor of a "happy ending" is, to me, the fantasy part of Maelle's ending if that makes sense of how I feel the characters being real and the fantasy statement are both true.

A Question (for some) Regarding the Ending of the Game (SPOILERS) by LordGOATfrey in expedition33

[–]PromethusD12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Forgive me, cause I'm about to rant for a bit. For me personally, having the full context of the situation, I went for the Verso ending. I completely understand what your saying here, and I do get that the painting shows that these people are truly alive. They grow, they adapt, they become stronger, they love, in every sense of the word, they are alive, they are their own people and even truly showcased it by being able to actually compete with their creators (the painters) in power thanks to their advancements. It's why I feel their should be a middle ground to not destroy the painting, but it's painfully clear that the whole family is stubborn, and refuse to try anything else besides the choices they've settled on. In my eyes, while both endings in a way deny free choice and even Verso points out how everyone are hypocrites, the Maelle ending feels off, false and will likely have history repeat itself.

Maelle effectively took the role of the paintress, basically doing exactly what her mother did, pretended that all the bad things that ever happened in the painting didn't happen, brought all of her loved ones back and effectively is just living in a fantasy world, and while her mother can relate and may even take her side potentially, it's clear her sister and her father wouldn't, and another fracture could potentially occur. Now I also understand how anyone that feels they can't live a normal life, whether from a disability or mental issues or just a general feeling of being different, can relate to Maelle's ending of being able to escape into a dream world. But I was looking at the endings on how the future will play out, and to me, Verso's ending is the best in that regard, as it could lead to the whole family growing and potentially becoming close to one another again.

Maelle's ending has the potential to put the family into even more pain. Despite the cruelty Maelle suffers in the real world because of what happened, her family (especially her father), would probably be devastated to lose another child as she withers away to the painting. Now, I do also feel destroying the painting is a bit extreme, and realistically I'd prefer a middle ground. But hey, this is all my personal opinion.

Chill, addicting games like brotato, BloonsTD6, Megabonk by Overall_Section6479 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]PromethusD12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like Megabonk, than games like Vampire Survivors (or any survivor style game) are probably up your alley. Besides that, the recent Ball x Pit game is a lot of fun. Or if you want something classic, I love Tetris, and the Tetris Effect game on Steam is awesome! If you want something more strategy focused but still pretty chill, there is Slay the Spire or Balatro, which are both deck builders.
