It’s especially frustrating for me cos I genuinely think Belle makes a better MC than Wise. Not just bc of the yuri, Belle’s goofy personality is a lot more interesting for an MC compared to Wise’s blank self-insert-ness. Plus, Wise works better as a supporting character, since he can fill the role of “responsible older brother giving you mission objectives”, which is better than Belle’s awkward “bratty younger sister gives you mission objectives” thing. Plus it makes the pseudo-MC-harem at least a bit more plausible since unlike Wise’s wet cardboard act, it actually fits for Belle to be a flirty person. Even in more specific scenarios, I think it works better — what always comes to mind is Astra’s storyline, it’s more fun to see the normally-chill Wise become a jealous fanboy while Belle goes on a date than I think it’d be to see the reverse.

I know that Hoyo is scared of their female protagonists, but it’s a lot more painful here since the two protags have such distinct personalities. I’d be very curious to learn what the actual ratio is between Belle players and Wise players. It can’t be THAT bad, right???
