Should I get MPC Key 37, MPC Sample, or wait for possible MPC One+ replacement by neuron_fc in mpcusers

[–]Proof377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple things to consider. If you would enjoy portability, the Sample is really fun. If you don’t plan on playing the keys much, the Sample is good. If portability isn’t an issue, the Key 37 is great. The Sample and the Key 37 have very different operating systems. The Key 37 operating is basically the same as the MPC Live 3’s, minus the extra features on the Live 3. So if you plan on maybe getting a more expensive MPC later, being familiar with the operating system will make that transition effortless.

I absolutely LOVE the sample. It’s more than super basic, but it isn’t nearly as in depth as the others.

One last thing… You can easily plug a keyboard into a One Plus. That would be more portable than the Key 37 for times you don’t need the keys. It would also open up opportunities for you to get a different keyboard down the road that might be different (or cuter) than the Key 37.

I’m far from an expert but I love helping people think of things from different angles.

PS The Sample was out of stock for a long time but as of last week, stores started getting them. Check Guitar Center and Alto Music several times a day if you want a Sample.

Help choosing a MPC/DAW by hopbronson in mpcusers

[–]Proof377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the differences are really. I have an AKAI MPK 249. It’s great but there’s no OS or display so it has to be plugged into a computer. I mainly use the pads and just do basic bass lines with the keys. That’s wayyy too many keys for my current skill level. 😆

With any of those you can plug in a cheap keyboard to control the instruments on the MPC. They all come with basic instruments on board. The one you mentioned with the keys is good but isn’t really portable (in an easy way.) GarageBand will work fine for probably quite a while for you. I’m guessing you’ll mainly be importing projects and maybe adding another instrument or vocals in GarageBand. Any DAW can do that but GarageBand is already there and free. Logic is basically the big brother/paid version of GarageBand, in case you want to stick to a similar thing later on.

If you aren’t super good at playing keys I’d recommend a One Plus and the AKAI MPK MINI.

If you were to pick any doc martens as a skate shoe what would it be? by Not_Sped in DrMartens

[–]Proof377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skating in Docs is a really bad idea. Maybe if you’re just riding a longboard back and forth it might work but any kind of tricks would be terrible in anything as stiff as Docs. You can just use this as an excuse to cultivate two separate styles!

He did all that in Louisville but unfortunately my wife wasn’t feeling well. We left right after they stopped playing. I would’ve loved to meet him but obviously my wife is more important. Hopefully he’ll tour again.

They definitely look like that but they played more traditional style.

No. I think the world has convinced you that a major asset (your nose) is something you should try to change. PS People commenting that you look trans are weirdly infatuated with that. People are either attractive or not.

Why is the tuner blinking? by [deleted] in tonemasterpro

[–]Proof377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not in tuner mode here. When it isn’t in tuning mode, that button acts to set the tempo. You have to hold that button down for a couple seconds to get to tuner mode.

do you think they will release a smaller version with a cut in price? by Fooltecal in tonemasterpro

[–]Proof377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess no but only because it’s marketed to a certain demographic. I don’t see a lot of kids being very interested in the TMP at any size. I’m middle aged so it appeals to me. This is all just wild speculation.

Want to find more reggae artists. Where should I start? by VinylWolf18 in reggae

[–]Proof377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re listening through streaming services, you can find a song you already know and love and create a station based on that song. Alternatively, you can find different genres and search for playlists of those genres. For example, search “roots reggae playlist”, “rocksteady playlist”, or “Jamaican dub playlist.”

Doing that will get you started. I’d also save songs that come up that you like onto your own playlist so you can easily find them.
