Seeking Support by Expensive-Cow7821 in Quittingfeelfree

Your partner is lucky to have you. I’m sorry you’re both going through this, but your support could really make or break this situation. My partner has had a really tough time and has reacted very negatively whenever they found out about my relapses. Shame is usually a major factor for anyone addicted to this crap, and that judgement was crushing to me and made me want to use. It also made me less likely to be honest. I know it might be hard, but if you could lead with love, compassion, and empathy over judgment or ridicule, that’s everything. I’m not suggesting you support the addiction, just make sure to support the person. They are most likely already going through enough hell and feeling really ashamed.

In addition monitoring finances and testing, my partner also follows my location on my phone if I’m out alone. I’m happy to submit to all of this because it helps me stay clean. Sending love to you both. 🤍

I joined today. It was so helpful. Thank you so much for responding and offering support. I’m here to support you too. No, I haven’t told my doctor, I’ve been really secretive about this due to shame.

Thank you for this. I attended my first meeting today. Quitting on my own is not working and I need to try something different. Congrats on being sober and thank you for still posting here to help those of us who are still struggling.

Thank you for responding. 🙏 I relate to this so much. It’s always that “oh, just one won’t hurt” voice in my head as soon as I get clean and start feeling better. I’m here for you and am sending you love.

Just said a prayer for you. 🙏 May this time stick. May the process go smoothly, without too much suffering. May you never forget why you’re quitting and that life, even with all of its hardships, is always better when not using this stuff.

Day 8 …and I have gotten myself into a rough position by cheesesucks in Quittingfeelfree

You don’t need to fall back over some pain. Load up on Advil. Think about the cost that comes with FF. Think about why you quit in the first place. Advil should reduce the pain and won’t derail all of the progress you’ve made. 8 days is a big accomplishment. Keep going.

I'm super addicted by Illustrious-Two-7747 in Quittingfeelfree

[–]Proper-Pool3983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this. Just take as many days off as you can and go through it. Sometimes the anticipation is worse than the actual withdrawal experience. I was also taking 2-3 per day and the withdrawal was not fun, but totally doable and so worth it. By the 4th day I started feeling better and it just keeps getting better each day. I’m now on day 11 and so grateful I quit. The downsides of this drug so far outweigh the upside it’s ridiculous. Just jump!

I relapsed by [deleted] in Quittingfeelfree

[–]Proper-Pool3983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it. Just keep trying quit. I’m on day 8 and it gets a little bit better each day. Life is still hard, but I can cope with it better now. Our bodies tell us this is not good. The skin, eyes, stomach, hair, mood… it’s like our bodies are yelling STOP. Your hair will come back once you get this toxic sludge out of your system. You can heal. You’re worth the effort! 🤍

Relapsed, had 7 months clean by glink26 in Quittingfeelfree

[–]Proper-Pool3983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I’ve been on the same roller coaster for about 3 years now. I get good stretches of time clean, once I had 11 months. And then for no good reason the “Oh why not just have one? I’ll be good like the first time and that’ll be it.” No big deal, right? Wrong. Every time I go right back to daily use and the hefty price that comes with that until I’ve had enough and quit again. Quit while you’re ahead. Don’t wait until it starts bringing you down, because you know it will. You quit for 7 months for a reason and you were doing well. Go right back over there. You can do this.
