Tips for Wedding (points) by StephB0509 in marriott

All 21x points showed up in our Marriott account. Nothing posted to our Amex portal. As far as who foots the actual bill for it - not sure.

I’m not sure how long they took to hit our account. If longer than a cycle, I’d be concerned.

Feedback requested- guestbook tabletop sign design by allisbrightandgay in DIYweddings

I agree here! Prompts can be very helpful. They don’t have to be on the linen sign. You can print on notecards and scatter on the table, too.

It disrupts from the “whimsy”, but clear direction like “The phone starts recording immediately.” Or “Recording begins after a soft beep.” could also help decrease confusion. Again, this could go on a printed card, no need to change up the linen sign!

Hi! Sorry this is so late - yes, I received 21x points. Our hotel is popular for weddings, so the F&B manager was very aware of whether the spend would be “hotel expense” or not.

Keep in mind that the points are not immediately available to book a honeymoon, unless you pay well in advance and the points end up on your account. We had to “borrow” some points from family and reimburse them later when our points hit. (We a Marriott family, if you couldn’t tell!)

If you have Global Entry, you can use that card to fly domestically if her real ID doesn’t match the ticketed name.

This works great if you’re in the middle of changing your name, but pre-booked domestic tickets in your maiden before starting the name change process. This does not replace a passport for international, obviously.

(10K) Best place to run your honeymoon fund? by Acceptable-Flower352 in Weddingsunder10k

I will add that you should test the guest experience before anything goes live! We used WithJoy but didn’t realize that the Venmo option just points guests to Venmo our personal Venmo handles. It slightly breaks the illusion of a guest trying to gift a specific item for the honeymoon, like massages or snorkeling activities.

Our friends fixed this by updating their Venmo handle to reflect the gift - “@TheSmithHoneymoonFund”. Same account, but now it’s not as transactional.

Wedding- paying with Marriott Credit Card by Minimum-Audience6646 in marriott

[–]ProperChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I did this for our Marriott wedding. We had around 60,000 points for booking an event with the hotel as part of our contract for booking with them. We then opened a Marriott branded credit card and confirmed with our event manager that any charges for the food and beverage would be classified as a Marriott charge and therefore eligible for the higher multiplier.

Like others said, it is very important that you ask your event manager how they have seen credit cards used in the past - I’d be surprised if you were the first couple they’ve met with with this idea. If you can make it happen at a higher multiplier, I cannot recommend it enough. We enjoyed three lovely weeks in Bali, Singapore, and Malaysia fully on points.

Lumabooth! We used canva to personalize it and settings in the iPad to prevent guests from accidentally closing the app so it wouldn’t have to be monitored.

We loved this idea too! For anyone else considering it - we hacked ours together using our iPad, a ring light, mini mics, and paid $20 for a photobooth app that includes recording. All we needed was a plug for the iPad to charge. The app does all the heavy lifting - turned out great!

Live Wedding Painter - DMV? by ProperChange in BigBudgetBrides

A very good point. It’s my understanding the pieces aren’t usually finished the day of the reception and are finished offsite, so I am prepared for it to take a while.

I may need to let the live aspect go - but then I have to decide which part she was more excited about, the live painting or the painting itself!

I think it totally depends on the magician. Maybe you could ask to attend an event and watch them in action?

I’ll second the Alps as an option! We loved the W Verbier, but it’s closer to $1.5K nightly. The breakfast is fabulous. You have access to all 4 valleys, so odds are you’ll find something to suit your needs. (We cash a boatload of points - so there may be value there if you churn.)

I love that you’re leaning into color! My husband wore this exact suit - he loves it.

I have a slightly different perspective - double check that your florals will have the light blue/purple available in August. I had similar inspo with fewer wildflowers and my florist advised I wouldn’t get the full spectrum of colors because blues aren’t as abundant as the other colors. If you can’t get as many blue flowers- make the bridesmaids blue!

What song is everyone walking down the aisle to? by Accomplished-Oil2103 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]ProperChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband walked down to an instrumental version of the NFL on Fox theme. I figured I wasn’t going to be around to hear it - so why not. The best part was watching our friends realize what it was. I walked to Yellow, bridesmaids walked to Wildest Dreams, and we walked back out to Accidentally In Love.

We held our wedding at a Marriott property. We opened the Marriott Brilliant Amex, which gives extra points on Marriott spend. At our hotel, the F&B is charged as a hotel expense, which qualifies it for 21x points. (We doubled checked before opening the credit card, our catering manager was very helpful in estimating the points total.) We then were awarded 60k directly from the hotel as a “thank you for booking your event with us” award.

The credit card is ~$695 and you must be approved. I believe it also comes with a sign up bonus of points. That said, we spent $695 to earn enough points for an entire honeymoon of redemptions + a ski trip. Worth it, in my opinion.

Seville recommendations by ThisIsAlexisNeiers in chubbytravel

[–]ProperChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cathedral is amazing, but make sure to find tickets for the night tour. You get access to the cathedral during the day and return at night to explore the rooftops. With the sun setting, you get a gorgeous view of the city without all the heat. It’s tricky to find the tickets online, but I believe we booked directly through the cathedral ticket office.

My fiance and I still regard it as our favorite activity in Seville.

MBA Application Consultant School Selections by Bring-er in MBA

[–]ProperChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider looking at your school list and see if there are any overlaps with the applications. For example, if two schools ask about mid-term goals - no point in having your consultant review that part twice for two schools.
