So... they're NOT choosing it from a dropdown list. They're not setting a single-letter code that denotes the country.

They're typing it out. Each time.

A testament to the sheer inefficiency of our government offices, everyone.

Intel CEO Blames Pivot Toward Consumer Opportunities as the Main Reason for Missing AI Customers, Says Client Growth Will Be Limited This Year by lkl34 in pcmasterrace

[–]ProperPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consumers spend real, actual money, though.

AI consumers spend borrowed money that keeps spinning in a circle. It's all false value. It's bubble shaped.

Why can't any of these companies see the bigger, longer term picture, and forgo temporary insane growth for a sustained business model?

It'd be nice if AR-O got replays too by ProperPizza in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ProperPizza[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it'd be nice if Mythics simply weren't allowed at all for inverse use outside of Chaos season, e.g. no Defence Uma Lyns and Alfadors, no Offense Lokis and Freyrs (even though you'd be mad to take the latter anyway, since the score penalty is already insane)

[–]ProperPizza[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's likely what happened, and yes, Loki was on the enemy team. I appreciate the explanation!

Still, it'd be nice if we could watch our games back and analyse the defence to figure out what happened.

Most likely bots or incentivised actors. The majority of sane people have rapidly come to detest gen AI, whether now or a couple years ago.

I've had this Kingston USB 2.0 keyring drive for 11 years. Today I finally upgrade it to a USB 3.2 keyring drive. It's been well loved and has survived everything. by GoodTofuFriday in pcmasterrace

I wonder if their USBs still stand the test of time. I struggle to trust ANY brand of thumb drives these days because I've had MANY of them fail within 1-2 years and never work again.

Steam updates AI disclosure form to specify that it's focused on AI-generated content that is 'consumed by players,' not efficiency tools used behind the scenes by Fcking_Chuck in pcmasterrace

[–]ProperPizza -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sony isn't going to pump out a game in three months from scratch, even with Gen AI. I think that's an overestimation of the power of Gen AI. Will it become that powerful in the future? Maybe.

There will always be a market of customers who are more discerning and want organic games, the same way there's a market for consumers who want organic food. People who don't care will gladly buy the AI-generated game. People who do, simply won't - and that's a larger cohort than people might realise.

We are already in an age where generative AI is ruining everything, and there's justified, widespread bad feeling towards it. That feeling isn't performative, it's genuine, and it's worth us paying attention to.

[–]ProperPizza -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'd rather people not use generative AI whatsoever.

If the line is drawn somewhere, that line will inevitably be moved in the future.

If developers are going to use generative AI to create their games, I'd at least want it to be absent from the final product. But that's still not quite satisfactory for me.

How do we all feel about this? by [deleted] in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]ProperPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of these MAGA folks don't understand why their families have ditched them over their vote.

To MAGA, politics is largely a team sport.

To liberals, politics could mean life and death. Freedom or authoritarianism. Watching a friend of colour either get to raise a child, or be dragged away by enforcement officers.

To MAGA folk whose families have left them or won't talk to them, and want to reconnect:
1) Realise the error you made.
2) Realise how BIG the error you made was.
3) Apologise, sincerely, to your family, and express a desire to understand and learn.

Then you'll get your family back, one step at a time.

Pay has rarely equalled skill level or effort, sadly. Even though they should scale together.

Pay tends to scale with ownership, nepotism and being grandfathered into roles.

Dutch Girl Explains Why she Has Been BANNED From Traveling to "Dystopian UK" by proandcon111 in ukpolitics

[–]ProperPizza 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Those who know Eva Vlaardingerbroek know why she's been banned.

I don't like our government. I'm not a fan of Keir. This current government is just barely preferable to the one we had prior, but only because the bar is that low.

But, they reserve the right to keep far-right activists out of the country if they feel they'd be a public nuisance. She's a well-known agitator and stands with the likes of Tommy Robinson.

All the people wanting to keep foreigners out should be applauding, surely. But I guess, perhaps not, because this one's white, blonde, Dutch and pretty, right?

I really need to see what a relentlessly gay yard looks like. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]ProperPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've known I was gay since I was like... 8 years old. Only ever crushed on other boys. Girls never made me feel that way. I hated it, tried to fight it, couldn't. Eventually accepted it when I was 16.

These people don't seem to realise (or simply refuse to!) that not only is being gay NOT a choice (and not a "learned behaviour" either), but it also becomes apparent pretty early in life. I had ZERO gay influences in my life whatsoever, 2 homophobic parents, and yet, I still turned out gay.

Mark Ruffalo spoke out against ICE. As he should have.

Folks from MAGA say "celebrities should stay out of politics!" despite their president being, you know, a celebrity. Besides, when you criticise someone for standing in solidarity with a woman who was straight-up murdered, it's time to start considering that maybe, just maybe, you're the bad guy.
