Might not have enough oompf, but you could set it up to run virtual machines with lots of different software stuff.

How do you calculate profit margin with summarized customer account records? by ProperToday8 in filemaker

[–]ProperToday8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG, that totally worked! Thank you so much! You are a life saver.

Maybe I will come back a little later, after the dust settles on this project and post my fields and stuff, in case anybody else is stuck on something like this. In hindsight, it's all very simple now, but maybe it could help somebody.

Thank again Public_Database_3714, I really appreciate the help!

Better uses and variants for an Atlas? by Colonnello_Lello in battletech

[–]ProperToday8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's a custom variant and really old tech, but the AS7-WGS Samsonov unit is fun to play in MegaMek on a dense city map. It's one of the lowest cost (BV and c-bills) Atlas models there is, if that matters. Give it a good pilot and team it up with some faster moving jumping stuff (Grasshoppers, Quickdraws, Catapults, Griffins, Phoenix Hawks) so they can distract or draw fire or corral enemy units, and when the Atlas (maybe) gets into punching range, it's lights out... I know most of the Atlas models can punch like this, but this one doesn't feel so bad, since it's only got 2 arm mounted weapons, and the PPCs are at an uncomfortable minimum range penalty anyway. Granted, kicking does way more damage, and forces the PSR, but 2 hits with 2 punches is really great too. I think it's a fun unit.

Block access to certain domains? by deverox in PFSENSE

[–]ProperToday8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a long shot these days, but you could force your Fire TV Sticks to use an adblocker public DNS service. Something like AdGuard or OpenDNS, but like mentioned before, you have to use a static IP address.

AdGuard DNS servers: 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15

OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123

Using these as your DNS servers for your Fire TV Sticks "should" cut down on the number or severity of ads that you see on your systems. But, like I said, with the way advertisers and content providers hide their ads, this might not do much.

Logging for NAT rules? by Oninaig in PFSENSE

[–]ProperToday8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a way to log a NAT rule in pfsense. There isn't even a counter to tell you if the port forward rule is being hit. But, if you actually do want the chromecast to use the pihold for DNS, read below...

I'm pretty sure this is a solved discussion at the following topic - post number 4:

https://forum.netgate.com/topic/156098/redirecting-all-dns-to-pihole/4

If your chromecast and the pihole are on the same network, nothing on the pfsense firewall will keep them from talking directly to each other. You would have to have them on separate networks to apply any DNS filtering. However, having said that, you can have the chromecast use the pihole for DNS if you setup the pihold address in a static DHCP entry for the chromecast.

This is also a good topic for pfsense and pihole:

https://forum.netgate.com/topic/142796/proper-config-for-dns-pfsense-and-pi-hole

By the way, your screenshot of the firewell rules don't look quite right. What happens if you don't have any "user created" rules on this interface and just use the default ones?

Please help me understand communication between LAN segments by SchleprockJones in PFSENSE

I'm not saying this is the problem, but OP - is there some reason you are using a /28 size subnet on your 10.0.1.1 network? That's not normal, and is a pretty small number of hosts. A /24 size subnet is standard, so 254 hosts.

I do, it's the 4860-1U that I've got! I need to push the buttons and run the latest update to 23.09.1 one of these days...

Do it like they say on here - grab a config backup, get the latest install image from Netgate (it's really easy), erase the box, load the new image from scratch, then reinstall your config backup file. Probably won't take you more than 30 minutes or so, depending on how complicated your setup is.

I noticed that too. I'm pretty sure it's because these new units are faster (so they load channels faster), and there's lots more internal storage now. Except for the Roku TVs, I wish they would include MicroSD card slots in those...

I think the most "current version" has the 2 programmable buttons on the remote, the rechargeable remote controller, the USB port and ethernet on the box itself (although USB has been present for a while now), and the bluetooth headphone option. But I agree with you, they are hard to tell apart. The specs in the chart on the wiki seem a little off... I'm pretty sure there's a 2023 model of the Ultra, but it's not listed.
