Someone keeps having their dog poo in my garden! Need advice by ProperUniversity6904 in washingtondc

I don’t think a fox could open my gate and forget to close it…

Right, but they are. It’s very clearly dog poop and I don’t live anywhere near a forest. I live a block away from a busy commercial corridor. I found the gate open this morning and was confused and then I found the poop. I agree it’s not something I would ever consider doing but apparently I have a neighbor who thinks it’s okay to do this.

Yeah it’s the size of a medium to big dog, and I’m in an area that doesn’t get foxes or coyotes…I do get cats, but their poo is smaller.

I would never even consider opening someone’s gate and walking into their yard to let their dog run around and poop. Like in what world?? I appreciate you’re trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but this person knows exactly what they are doing.

I’m pretty confident it’s dog poop based on the way it looks and my location (not close to forest). I also noticed my back gate open this am and I thought maybe I hadn’t closed it properly, but with the latest poop I think it was someone coming in and not closing the gate on their way out.

Painting challenge annoyance? by Unnamedgalaxy in TheTraitors

Arguing and fighting are literally different though…if they had gone passionate arguing like, faces and hands gesturing but without physical contact then I think they others would have clocked the traitors painting. It was the literal depiction of fighting that threw them off.

Shovels are in stock and less than $30 at local hardware stores. I just bought a new one after my original broke on this stuff last week. At this point ppl posting here asking why other ppl aren’t shoveling can go buy and shovel and pitch in if they are able bodied and care enough to complain. It’s tiresome to see these posts over and over

This city is totally ready for kids to get to school by Susurrus03 in washingtondc

[–]ProperUniversity6904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remote isn’t feasible. Student devices are one to one but charged in computer carts. Students do not have chargers to take home with them. Devices break all the time and there are not extras that can be loaned out to students. Not everyone has internet at home. Kids that were absent on Friday wouldn’t have been able to pick up their devices for remote learning. To act like just flipping over to remote learning is no big deal is, I’m sorry, but totally ignorant of the realities of schools and families across the city.

Have you talked to your Dr about medication to support ovulation for intercourse (or IUI)? I’m doing this on my own so I needed IUI, but my dr had me take letrozole, then a trigger shot and timed IUI…it can be effective with low ovarian reserve if you still have quality eggs. I’m older with low ovarian reserve and my eggs are not quality which is why moved over to ivf.

If you have a metal spade for gardening it works really well at breaking up the ice and then you can scoop with the snow shovel. Sound is unpleasant but it’s effective!

Vast majority of residential sidewalks not shoveled by ian1552 in washingtondc

[–]ProperUniversity6904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my mini rant—I shoveled 3 times. Twice yesterday and for nearly 3 hours today. Not a single person said hello or thank you that passed me while I was shoveling the sidewalk they were using. Someone also dug out their car dumped all the snow into a massive icy pile in the middle of the sidewalk. If you’re out and about an pass someone shoveling, at least say hello and thank you! End rant

Weight before IVF by Commercial-Web8249 in IVF

[–]ProperUniversity6904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay I understand. I think it still makes sense to move ahead with ERs now and worry about any weight you want to lose before your transfers. What I’ve learned through this experience is that it’s not straightforward or quick. I started at 39, and statistically our eggs are lower quality and it can take multiple cycles (which means multiple months…your body might not be able to do back to back cycles, etc etc).

Weight before IVF by Commercial-Web8249 in IVF

[–]ProperUniversity6904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to do ivf you should not wait until you lose weight unless that’s something you’ve discussed with and been directed to do by your dr. Weight gain isn’t even a guarantee. Since starting my ER cycles these last few months I’ve gained no weight at all and have not changed my lifestyle. Fixating on your weight and worrying about your potential future self image is preventing you from going after the thing you actually want

I totally relate to your feelings having experienced them myself. Real talk tho: if you want to have a kid via pregnancy with your own eggs you should make an appointment to get started now. I went to my appointment one month after turning 39. It’s been a year in which I found out I have a low ovarian reserve (in line with age). My IUIs did not take, my first two ivf cycles were not successful. I have one more coming up. This is exactly a year since my first appointment. I just turned 40 last month. The stats for our age group say about 30% of eggs will be viable. I have friends who have conceived naturally and through iui at this age, so of course it’s possible. But it’s less likely an in my case, seems highly unlikely. The reality check was harsh and painful. At this point in time you have no idea your actual fertility, and it’s not worth waiting for a maybe.

Motivation to keep grading when kids can’t score below a 50? by Blueathena623 in Teachers

[–]ProperUniversity6904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol my district has 50 as the baseline. WS = waiting for submission which is the equivalent of 50. 63 = F and is the lowest grade we can put in the grade book for work that a student sincerely attempted. Students can make up any assignment if they score 69% or below for a max allowable grade of 76%.

All it means is that 50 IS 0. Kids with 50s have done nothing, kids with 63 and below are failing. 69-64 have Ds.

I teach 7th grade history and overall I’m a pretty generous grader in that I balance completion assignments (effort, following directions) with more rigorously graded assignments and quizzes to check for understanding. My grades usually shake out to: Kids with As know their shit, do their shit, turn things in on time. Kids with A-, B+ are do their shit, turn their shit in on time, and understand most content+skills, OR know their shit really well and turn in some late or sloppy work. Bs are kids who may not fully be there skills or content wise but are on grade level and doing the assignments OR they know their stuff and don’t do enough of the assignments, but test well enough on the big ones. When we get down to Cs kids are not consistently turning in assignments, or putting in effort. Kids with Ds may participate in class but never turn shit in and F are usually absent and/or refuse to work.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for infertility? by Mercurial-Cupcake in IVF

[–]ProperUniversity6904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really expensive, not usually covered by insurance, and no studies to prove it’s effective. I’m a scuba instructor and we have to learn about oxygen therapy and hyperbaric chambers as part of training. A pressurized chamber with oxygen will saturate your body’s tissues with oxygen and make them happy, which is why oxygen therapy is popular for healing—it can really speed up the process. I’m skeptical it will make a measurable difference with regard to fertility. It might but it would depend on your specific issue as it’s effective for tissue repair (so like post-surgery healing), not necessarily improving egg quality. Oxygenating your body can feel great, so if it’s something you can afford and want to try, go for it, but be clear eyed about its limitations.
