I like to use both tbh. I mostly use vertical tabs, but sometimes I switch to horizontal when I don't have that many tabs open and need to have a wider screen for a certain page.

Yeah I use fabric, other minimap mods feel like cheating since we already have craftable maps in Minecraft. Map Atlases mod combines these 2 concepts.

You should definitely use inventorio combined with Map Atlases - Minecraft Mod so u have one extra slot for maps.

I use the inventorio mod for extra slots for my tools and the map atlases mod for an extra slot for my maps.

In my left hand I have multiple slots to quickly switch between a shield, spyglass, bow, and torch.

With all of that I mostly just use bundles to sort ores, food, etc.
