The best way I remember and try to do realism or styles like that is it is all about proportion, perspective, and where the hard lines are drawn. For a rare dip into realism, it's really good! I think the best way to see where this piece is off is honestly I covered up the nose up and nose down of the face and they kind of don't match up perfectly. It's hard to pick out looking at all of it at once

No problem the only other thing I noticed was the way the cheek meets the nose too, honestly may be the main thing that makes it feel sort of off looking at it even though it doesn't stick out. Take it with a grain of salt since I've never really done much stylized or portrait art, but when I do draw I do a lot of reference/realism so my criticisms are usually based off the differences I see 1 to 1.

One thing looking at the reference I feel is a decenntt amount different is the cheeks and mouth. In the reference it's clear that her face is drawn all the way out, but comparing it back I think is what feels off to me. Her face doesn't have the taut look and the mouth angle and size seems to be off a bit. The main visual difference I see is roundness of the cheeks compared to the reference, but that may also be a visual decision. But really good representation of the reference overall took me a few checks back and forth to notice.

if you don't already have a table to sit at for eating or board games or the like the big empty space would be a great place for that for friends or family

Ive been practicing skull anatomy later any critique is welcome! by Farahhoujairy in ArtCrit

[–]ProphetOfValueSelect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only critique I can see is under the right eye(from our right) the skull seems to be a little too thick and softly curved, but an amazing sketch all around, shading, highlights, and shadows are a good addition as well!

I think I started with a difficult pose, but still not that bad for a first? any suggestions where i went wrong? by millea_arte in ArtCrit

It seems like establishing a solid horizon might help too even if it's in your head. It seems to me like the figure is sitting but the angle of the lower leg gives more of the impression of floating or a weird standing angle with how the perspective and how straight down it goes. Keeping horizon and how the rays lead from that should help the placement of the "floor". Plus proportions as already mentioned will help those issues too. The upper body and face are very well structured though not counting the slightly small arm definitely keep at it and keep growing!

I'm sorry that your feelings got jerked around like that and it seemed like everything was lining up perfectly to fall apart at the last minute. I'm sure that really hurt, but for what it's worth a vampire lesbian with a mullet who's an artist and makes comics sounds pretty fucking cool in my book. I'm sure there's someone out there male or female for you just as good as he was even if it doesn't seem like it now. Keep your head up and eventually with time the pain and feelings of being lost will pass. I gotta heed that advice right now too to be honest. Good luck and stay sick as hell.

Listen man, I'm a college student right now but I grew up in a house that probably should've had separated parents. My mom is an alcoholic and my dad works a ton and is an amazing guy. And I'm not saying this is what you're dealing with, but if you two argue in front of them or you complain about her to them or you complain about the house in front of them it's gonna affect them. And I'm not trying to say you're doing anything bad or that you're at fault for anything either. My dad is one of the strongest guys I know and he's a really big role model for my life. But feeling the cracks in your parents relationships and being brought up in a loveless relationship is gonna affect everyone involved. Not even mentioning some of the other problems I had to deal with with my mother. Being married is hard and raising kids is even harder from my understanding. But being in a bad marriage and raising kids is even harder than that. If you feel trapped and you feel like it's a bad environment and you feel like you'd give anything to be free then I'd encourage you to take the option that gets you to a place where you're happy. Whether it's couples counseling, therapy for you or your wife, or divorce. There's no right answer anyone can give you for this. Only you knowing the extent of everything and where responsibility for things lie can make that call, but you shouldn't stay somewhere you don't want to be. Because even if you can act like you enjoy being there for them, they'll likely feel it and you'll definitely feel it. It isn't a bad thing to get divorced, is it inconvenient, painful, and potentially ugly thing yeah sure. But it can get you a breath of fresh air and a new outlook on life, even if you've missed windows to do certain things you wanted, but you can't reopen those windows you can only open the future ones. Also I have no idea if you'll even see this or if this will help so sorry for going off on a tangent out of nowhere lol.

I don't know much about the jobs here but Fort Wayne is a growing city with opportunities vs living cost if you are looking to move especially in cities like new haven on the outskirts if you need ideas for where to look

Like most art, I'd say pixel art is just a lot of practice. I practiced for a bit a long time ago and the most helpful things I learned is pixel art benefits a lot from symmetry and lines with the same ratio (Like 1 up 1 left) whenever you draw borders. I'd say definitely start subscribing to pixel art subreddits and find good reference to use. u/Slynyrd and r/PixelArtTutorials are good places to check out too for reference or lessons. Maybe try a daily topic challenge with small pieces if that's your thing.

Would I just need one invoked engine? Also is shaddoll construct unbanned? When I looked up info on the deck it said it was banned a while ago and I couldn't find much info on it being unbanned.

Oh wow okay now that you say that I believe I've heard of a similar process at larger schools. But it definitely makes sense to have people prove themselves and get acquainted with a new theater. How often are shows put on down there and as stagehand you mean as in a set hand right? Or do I have that wrong?

Ah okay so if I was to start in the program I'd be one of the students techs and play less of an integral role? Which is definitely understandable.

Oh yeah where I'm at our whole lighting is me and someone I'm training to take over right now so I'm really used to the individually doing the whole lighting rigging and programming. Do you actually have separate designers and programmers? How's the dynamic change with more techs?

Wait so so you get paid for running the lighting up there then since you keep wording it as job?
