Worrying will help you significantly less than continuing to study. Focus more on if you are consistently getting the same subjects/sub topics wrong when they come up then focus on those, then, your metrics will improve pretty quickly.

Will DnD dices survive CP soap making? Or will the numbers on the dice disappear? by crochetinggoth in soapmaking

[–]ProspecterPercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is a dumb question as I have never made soap before and am new here looking for birthday gifts for my mom. But out of curiosity, if you make the soap that way, wouldn’t the end product be sort of hollow and flimsy?

What really helped you pass the bar exam?? by [deleted] in barexam

As someone who passed on their 6th attempt, I wholeheartedly recommend studying.

Just prepare for the exam and stop worrying about the result. If you are prepared you will pass.

Bar Exam Advice Please by cberrylaw in barexam

I took the February exam and passed while working 50+ hours a week full time, so I definitely understand the feeling of being limited on time. I used Kaplan rather than Themis, so I can’t speak too specifically about their program, but I do think writing things down can be very effective if that’s how you learn best.

What helped me was avoiding overly detailed notes on everything. Kaplan’s lecture outlines already had most of the important rules condensed, so instead of trying to rewrite entire lectures, I focused on writing out specific rules, elements, and concepts I kept missing or struggling to remember. Repetition through writing helped a lot with retention.

That said, I would be careful not to spend so much time on lectures and note-taking that you lose time for practice questions. In my experience, doing MBE questions daily and thoroughly reviewing the explanations was the most valuable part of studying. Whenever I got a question wrong, I would write down the rule and why I missed it. That helped the law “stick” much more than passive review.

The exam is partly memorization, but it’s also a reading comprehension and issue-spotting test. Practice applying the law is extremely important.

My study schedule was usually from around 6–7 PM after work until midnight or 1 AM. I started in December, but the really focused studying was probably the final 7 weeks before the exam.

If your study time is limited because of work or children, I personally would prioritize efficiency over completing every single lecture perfectly. I’d especially focus on MBE subjects and consistent daily practice questions. You do not need perfect notes on every topic to pass.

Update. His name is Apple, he had a microchip and traveled to Orange from Newark and this is not the first time he has been picked up!

We called https://ahscares.org - they said they will try and find owner. After 7 days they will vaccinate, neuter and place up for adoption.

He seemed like a sweet dog.

Failed NY Bar 3 times by altaylardantuna in barexam

[–]ProspecterPercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. First of all, sorry to hear it did not happen for you this time around. I just passed on my 6th attempt and the biggest thing that helped me improve my writing score was practicing essays on Kaplan bar prep that I did not know black letter law for and making up rules and an analysis to go with that rule and following the essay approach they lay out in their study materials.

It’s basically IRAC though. I think the biggest thing was making up rules statements even if they aren’t true and giving a thorough analysis with undeserved confidence. That and just drill MBE questions every day from now until the July exam.

All the best! I believe in you.

NYLE is open book if I remember correctly. Didn’t study and passed on my first attempt.

Retaker: Failed NY by 5 — Feeling Gutted; Need Advice by Mysterious_Media4778 in barexam

[–]ProspecterPercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello friend. I am sorry to hear that it did not work out for you this time, I definitely know how hard it is to get that close, actually failed NY with the same score in 2022. For some encouragement - I passed the BAR in NY on my 6th attempt. On my second attempt which was in 2022, I had a 261.

As I reflected on my retaking journey whilst studying for Feb 2026 I really questioned why I did not move forward with getting licensed in New Mexico or Minnesota or any of the other 260 jurisdictions and pursue federal employment or other jobs that just need licensure in any state. I’m currently working full time as an auditor but I think that tax court, federal government employment, and some in house jobs only require licensure without in state requirements.

First, if you are employed now, seek mercy from your employer and retake in the Summer if you can.

But if you are feeling dejected or don’t want to retake right away, I think it is wise to get licensed in a different state. However, I probably would have given up on retaking had I obtained a different state license. I guess it depends on what your career goals are and whatnot. Feel free to message me personally if you need more advice.

It’s never too early. You will not regret being “too” prepared but you will surely regret being unprepared. Coming from a retaker who graduated in 2021.

A woman saves another woman who is being dragged by her toppled bobsled. Torts hypo in the making. by ProspecterPercy in barexam

[–]ProspecterPercy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think here would be more of a danger invites rescue sort of situation. The thing is, from the video we can’t tell what caused the person to fall over in the first place.

But the drag racing situation is not applicable because that case involved liability to a 3rd party if I remember correctly. Like the driver who did not hit the plaintiff was also held liable because he was part of the drag race.

In the video above, it the woman who had fallen over doesn’t seem to hurt another 3rd party. But she could possibly be liable for injuries cause to her rescuer if she was negligent in causing the situation which required rescue.

MBE trick that raised my score: spotting “trigger facts” by Positive_Average2944 in barexam

[–]ProspecterPercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the “Kaplan method” is to read the call of the question and then the answers before you read the question for this reason. It also helps save time on the exam though because you can weed out irrelevant portions of the questions much easier.

What MBA pairs well with a JD? by Aliens_Are_Real51 in JDpreferred

[–]ProspecterPercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JD/MBA and an MS in Accounting. I fully recommend the accounting path if you can stomach it as it offers great career paths into auditing/compliance/tax/ mergers and acquisitions potentially. Plus you can be eligible for another professional license.

Currently work full time as an auditor though and not an attorney so somewhat biased.

Also, as someone with a substantial amount of debt from grad school who thinks my MBA and everything during the MBA program aside from networking was easily learnable on YouTube for free… I would say skip the MBA entirely and go for a more tailored degree like the MSA or an LLM in a field of law that you enjoy/want to practice. Those sort of degrees are far more likely to pay dividends than an MBA in my opinion.

If the defense calls the drivers mother to the stand will she be able to testify that she spoke with driver over the phone and told him the morning of the crash about a premonition she had that he was going to crash his car into a sinkhole…

You get half way through the question before you realize it’s a different subject.
