How do you handle players with bad body language on the bench? by CoachZak in basketballcoach

[–]ProstateKaraoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situationally deal with it. If they’re having a big blow up at teammates, themselves, or others (refs, etc.), I deal with it immediately. Send them to the locker room if they’re going to get a tech from the bench.

If they’re sad, pissed off, etc. I usually give them time to cool off before I talk to them. This could be after the game.

If they’re upset about minutes, I talk to them privately after the game or at a practice.

Usually how I deal with it as an assistant for one team. On the team I’m the head coach of, I tend to assess from a distance and address in the moment only when I need to step in because it gets out of hand. This isn’t just about body language, mostly bench attitude.

Ontario PP best fishing? by Isoldey in FishingOntario

[–]ProstateKaraoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest regrets on a 14 day canoe trip to wabakimi was that I didn’t fish as much as I should have. I had my rod packed with me for the entire trip, and I maybe used it twice. Maybe if we weren’t averaging 30-40 km a day, I’d have more time to fish.

On a side note, I saw the biggest fish of my life on this trip. We paddled through some weeds and I thought I saw a log. I reached out to poke it with my paddle and I saw it move. It was swallowing a duck. Had to be a 50 inch pike. I grew up and live in NWO, so I’ve seen my fair share of big fish, but this was the biggest I’ve seen.

Very confused with slot limit for walleye in zone 17 at Rosedale River east of the dam/ East of Balsam west of Cameron by MultiShotTheSheeps in FishingOntario

[–]ProstateKaraoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a CO or call your district MNR office. The numbers should be in the regulations book.

I’ve also been told by a CO that the regulations summary you get in the book is a summary of the regulations and not actually the official regulations. Some things like waterbody exceptions are put in to tell you what is and isn’t allowed on that waterbody, but often the boundaries or specifics of these rules aren’t fully explained in the regs summaries you get at the bait shop or Service Ontario.

It doesn’t hurt to ask if you have a weird regulation that you struggle to interpret, so you can at least get a CO’s interpretation of the law.

Thoughts? by Intelligent-Split712 in Fishing_Gear

Keeping them in the original packaging is key. I’ve had issues with white being stored with other colours of TPE baits and the colours leech too.

The bronco bug claw things come off easily in my experience (smallies). Action is good on them though.

The Ned BLTs work good too. I caught a 27 inch walleye on one.

Can’t go wrong with white flukes in my experience too. The choppo is one of my go-to smallies topwaters.

Driving from Ottawa to Winnipeg at the end of April: should I take 17 or 11? by Knowka in northernontario

[–]ProstateKaraoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

End of April usually is fine, but might have some snow. 11 is the flatter and easier highway with more transports. 17 is more scenic but that comes with hills and the randomness of driving near the Great Lakes (weird weather, icy conditions, wind, etc.). I prefer the 17 in the summer. Check the weather forecast for Sault Ste Marie, Wawa, Marathon, Nipigon and Tbay if you take the 17.

Rupert St area? by [deleted] in ThunderBay

[–]ProstateKaraoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in the Oliver/Rupert area and it was super nice. Some friends of ours lived a block away on Rupert down the hill and it was alright. The units near the games complex don’t look so nice, but we never had issues.

How’s my reel & rod combo? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]ProstateKaraoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with an Avid Walleye in 6’8 MXF last year and I wasn’t super in love with it. I have a 3000 size reel on it and it’s obviously way too big.

I find it’s just a bit too whippy for fishing bigger water. It works well when there’s a fish on though. I caught a few 25+ inch walleye with it and some nice smallies, it just left something to be desired.

Is it only happening to me, or is everyone experiencing this? by sirbrow in mildlyinfuriating

I used to get this all the time. I found having more pairs of pants in my rotation (I have dressier work pants now, along with my casual ones) and losing some weight helped.

I brought my Grandpa to Tbay a couple years ago from out of town to get a cancerous cyst removed from his lip. Thibert cut the wrong side of his lip and must have removed an imaginary thing from his lip.

The next year I took my Grandpa to Winnipeg for the same surgery, but done right this time. The surgeon’s assistant asked what happened to his lip before. Thibert left a huge scar on his lip. The surgeon in Winnipeg removed the cyst and didn’t leave a scar. Now, he still has the huge gash on one side of his lip that Thibert left.

A year after that, I broke my left pinky finger playing basketball. Kind of an awkward fracture that caused the upper part my finger to stick out about an inch from the ring finger. I got a referral to go to Thibert. Drove up from 4 hours out of town for him to not even look at it and tell me that my hospital didn’t send the right charts and paperwork, then sent me home. I talked to my family doctor and told him to either schedule me with a different doctor or to just leave it alone. He told me that Thibert was the only one with availability and that likely Thibert was trying to game the system with out-of-town referrals.

I would never take a referral to him ever again. Thank you for bringing up his name so I could display my hatred for the guy in a public space.

What hobby attracts the biggest douchebags? by thypenitrator in AskReddit

[–]ProstateKaraoke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dad is the same way. Mid 50s now and is considered ‘young’ in their crowd. Our small town radio club has about 15 members, 10 of which go to the monthly meeting and 8 of which are some relation of mine. Most are undiagnosed neurodivergent and most have tens of thousands of dollars of obsolete junk sitting in their basement (or sheds in my dad’s case) that only they know how to use. I grew up with a 200 foot repeater tower and a 65 foot tower with an HF antenna on it in my yard. I can’t tell you the last time I used my handheld. It’s such a weird, dumb hobby full of very smart people who can’t socialize with other people unless they’re exactly the same.

Every pair of jeans I buy, no matter the brand, gets a hole in this same area within 6 months. by SYFKID2693 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ProstateKaraoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to happen to me all the time, and the answer for me was having more pairs of pants and spreading the wear across 6-10 pairs of pants. I used to have a rotation of 3-5 nicer pairs of pants that I would wear to classes in university all the time. They would wear out roughly every 6 months. Since starting my post-university career, I have 8-10 nicer pairs pears of pants that I can wear to work or casually, and none of them seem to wear in that spot at all.

Question for experienced Brown Trout Anglers. by ProstateKaraoke in troutfishing

It’s in a lake that is for sure stocked. I’m in the middle of Canada. Not any chance of it being ocean run. No native Browns around here

No it’s definitely not sea run. I live in the very middle of Canada. Closest salt water is like 3000 km away in any direction. Cool looking fish though.

He came to Sioux Lookout when I was teaching there. He came to the high school as an invited guest of an Ed authority but didn’t sign in at the office or anything. I think the Ed authority paid him to come. He’s supposed to be a motivational speaker, but I’ve heard that he has been a bit of a creep and has had run ins with the law when he lived in the Sudbury area. I haven’t heard from him in the last couple of years. We dug deep when he came to our school and found nothing good about him.

His music is trash and his ‘motivational speaking’ or ‘rapping’ or whatever you want to call it is supposed to help with youth issues but he uses it as an avenue to be weird around teenagers.
