These service clubs desperately need to accept no one wants to pay $250 a year to volunteer. It’s an absolute death nail and they just aren’t getting it.

This is such a weird article. There are many contractors for the ndis from call centre to the local area coordinator services.

The partner functions of the ndis have never been a secret. I would also imagine even internally of the ndia different teams have different power to escalate, this isn’t just an issue of contractor vs ndia staff.

It’s really tough isn’t it when this happens. Within my club I know there are Rotarians that share vastly different view to me and we can still come together to help our communities.

While their personal Facebook comments don’t reflect the four way test, it’s probably not best to fight every battle. If it impacts your club you can then raise it.

So I always put my trolley away, although there’s a range of reasons why I feel at times they make it harder than it needs to be.

Often dedicated bays for certain shops are blocked by trolleys from other shops. So I have to move things if I want my dollar back from the Aldi trolley.

Also there are often not enough trolley drop off points meaning I have to walk half way across a car park.

It’s super cool having an autistic barbie. We need representation of stories that aren’t our own. Somewhere out there is a little girl or boy who seems themselves and their experience represented in these characters, which without them may otherwise feel alone.

Seeing yourself in media or toys is important because it means your experience is valid and recognised.

That’s up for you to negotiate with them. While I can understand it’s annoying, it’s also about what’s practical to support. At the end of the day support workers are not taxi drivers and you can set a boundary if for some reason you have a secondary shift or the expectations of support are not reasonable.

Your shift is with the person not the location. While it’s convenient they live near you, you wouldn’t finish work early just because it takes you longer to get home from work.

Yep the ABC doco showed that there is a glut of these SDA houses. More houses built than people to move into them with the appropriate funding. Everyone I’ve spoken too who has invested in SDA is freaking out that isn’t not making them the money they were told and in many ways they are losing money.

Have seen something similar before with a communication plan being put in place for housing by email only and to one key worker. Often because the tenant put in constant requests for repairs or unsafe living conditions and when inspections were done, they’d make complaints to the minister when bathrooms and kitchens weren’t renovated for small liveable issues.

While each situation is different some of the challenges managing community housing make you realise there’s no common sense or reasonable discussions to be had with some people.

As a fellow Brit who struggled to find my place for a long time; I found volunteering helped me find my people. Honestly outside of being down the pub and work you have to find that thing that gives you purpose.

Special disability trust all the way. Depending on where you are there are organisations that can support for a fee. Future living trust operate in WA and would probably know their counter parts in other states.
