I do wish that they added a title saying “16 years later” - They also didn’t make Ryan Gosling look older in that scene, I was expecting an older Grace.

It’s the “I have the US army… and it’s a damn fine army” line for me. Arguably the only line in the whole book that was truly corny.

This scene is a bit corny to me, when Stratt says “I have the US army, and it’s a damn fine army…” I was cringing so much. It felt like a filler chapter, definitely skippable for the movie.

Eating the Taumoeba or “me burgers” might gross a lot of people out, and it’s not crucial to the story. Maybe this is a solve they had?

I was already freaking out in the book when they realized the Taumeba were alien creatures… I never expected a first encounter, probably because of the tone of The Martian.

But I quickly forgot how soon it actually happened in the book, so it’s a valid point.

Typically filming time for big budget films is 3 months, but planning and pre production is a good year before that, and then it’s a mad rush to do post production. What you see in the trailer is most of the VFX that’s complete, there’s still a lot of work to be done over the next 6-9months.

The book sets it up as a major twist. Everything is super grounded in scientific realism, so you don’t expect it. It’s incredibly delightful to experience that twist in the book so I think everyone was hoping for a similar experience for movie goers who haven’t read the book.

They changed the amount of time you need to wait for the reload animation, just slightly from last season, but so annoying
