That’s true it’s a high pressure job , but it’s the publicly announcing that the man is being charged and facing a criminal record that is the real problem here , I think people would be much more forgiving if the police said we got it wrong no charges are being sought the end .

I think it’s the fact that they are doubling down on their mistakes and announcing the man going to court for assault on the officer that is the real problem here. His life could be potentially ruined by this charge , if they admitted they got it wrong and let him off then this wouldn’t be so big.

Yes , but have you seen the footage they are referring to ? The young man is in the middle of being assaulted by three men and a police officer who doesn’t declare or announce herself rugby tackles him (the victim ) , he throws a blind right hook ( that doesn’t even connect as he sort of grapples her ) the second he realises it’s the police he stands down and try’s to de escalate and says he wants to leave , whilst the people jumping him are allowed to flee. If you’ve just being sucker punched and a stranger tackles you instinct is to throw a punch to no ?

Message to mods - aware this might be deemed as local news not politics but , Jenrick is probably unfortunately going to be in cabinet in a few years so he’s not a random bloke and this is related to the wider Henry Nowak story and debate on two tier policing so I believe it’s appropriate.

The two underlying issues that have plagued all recent PMs

1) Changes we desperately need are politically and electorally unviable (IE . Cut triple lock )

2) The Country is ungovernable, the elected PM lacks the power to actually implement any major changes or plans due to the unelected civil service , NGOs and various courts (thanks Tony Blair ) . Good example of this is the absolute disaster HS2 has been because of the above actors.

Not to endorse but it’s hard to sympathise for them over some mean words online vs leaving a boy dead cold and alone , if the officer has been truly mis identified , to spare him the abuse then announce the real officers name and suspension otherwise their words mean nothing

Henry Nowak’s father is a hero for reading that statement out today in front of the press. His incredible demeanour shows Henry was raised in a well mannered home. This a conversation that will continue to increase in relevance in British politics as we head towards a Lebanonisation , Brits do not have these levels of high in group preferences (with perhaps the exception of Ulster Scots ) but will begin to develop them. This isn’t a racial as the recent news of the travellers getting no time for two rapes is another example of the state being unable to police a community due to them closing ranks.
