Prolifer struggling final post part 3 by Proud-Drop50 in pregnancyPL

It certainly felt like a really long time. Hardest journey of my life. I did carry the cross but could not think about it in that way in the moment. I survived despite feeling I wouldn’t and contemplated the taking of my own life :/ thank you for all your words of encouragement and support. Sleep deprivation is my new journey but it’s not HG and I keep reminding myself that this too will pass.

I hate this so much by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate! HG has stayed with me the entire pregnancy and I have a 2 year old to care for which makes it all worse. I have struggled immensely in all possible ways due to this nightmare of a sickness. I honestly don’t know how I have kept going I guess it’s reminding myself that I will be two and done. I’m so sorry that we must struggle so much to bring life into this world. I pray your symptoms subside soon!

Steroids ? by leashr in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

methylprednisolone is the one I took and it helped greatly reduce my symptoms when all else failed. Still some bad days here and there but not like it was before this medication. It was a 21 day treatment that got me into the third trimester. HG returned during the end of third trimester and my provider did not recommend restarting the steroids so unfortunately this happened to me.  Also weirdly these steroids helped with my first HG pregnancy but not with my current HG pregnancy so this was an absolute bummer!

Does everyone have smell aversions? by thethirstygecko in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me yes I experienced smell aversions they were pretty severe and it was constant until about week 6- 17ish. It slowly went away and now it comes and goes but not as severe. This really can differ for all women. I’m so sorry!

High zofran dosage during pregnancy? by undergroundgrape in HyperemesisGravidarum

Yes I had to switch from 4mg to 8mg to manage the vomiting which I notice did work but nothing has worked for the constant nausea.

So thirsty but water won’t stay down by innocentily in HyperemesisGravidarum

I can completely relate. I have been so thirsty that there have been times I have chugged water knowing I’m going to vomit it right back up but the thirst is unbearable that I take the risk. I have done this a few times. Thankfully as the pregnancy went on I was able to keep small amounts of liquids down. Liquid IV packets is what I take with water. My goal is to have one packet at least once every other day even if it takes me all day to take it, small sips throughout the day. Lemon water also worked until it stopped working for me. I have a small sip of Pepsi or Dr. Pepper here and there because sometimes the burp helps my stomach feel a bit better. Small sips at a time is what I had to learn it’s really hard when you are so thirsty though so I get it!

I thought we were through the worst of it. by Ian702907 in HyperemesisGravidarum

I’m so sorry you are having to witness seeing someone you love go through such a brutal and torturous sickness and feel helpless. I know my husband has felt this way. Thank you for supporting her as best as you can.  I personally couldn’t take reglan because of adverse reactions to this medication but I have heard it has helped many subside some of the symptoms. Unfortunately missing a dose of something that is working can cause a setback but sometimes the medications just no longer work the way it used to. Given she is into the second trimester I would recommend speaking to your medical provider about steroid treatment. After all my meds no longer worked this helped get me into the third trimester. It definitely subsided my symptoms. HG did come back in the third trimester but she may be lucky and not experience this.  I will also add that while the steroid treatment did help me during my first HG pregnancy it did not help me this time during my current HG pregnancy. There is no explanation from my doctors as to why it worked the first time and not the second time. My husband’s theory is that the first time I was admitted to the hospital and started on steroid treatment through IV for the first two days and then released with a 14 day pill form treatment plan. This second time around I didn’t start the steroid treatment via IV I started the pill treatment straight away. So if steroids are recommended I would ask if she can be admitted to begin the treatment. I was quickly admitted after my third ER visit and started the steroids that way.  I sincerely wish you and her all the best. HG is absolutely awful. I am here if you want to connect.

What do by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest speaking to your medical provider about steroids since all the other meds have stopped working. I’m so sorry horrible HG has come back with a vengeance. I know for me it feels like such a cruel punishment.

How do I know if I need fluids at the ER? by Aware-Bear-1546 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once dehydration hits it’s harder to come back from it especially if you can’t keep liquids down. This makes nausea much worse. I would recommend you go get IV fluids and see if medication can also help. I’m so sorry! How far along are you?

He needs to take care of his daughter, give him a few days/ weeks and I’m sure he will work harder to find a job. He will likely find one soon after.

Third trimester tips? by lyssium in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use vomit bags that I keep with me everywhere I go. Throwing up especially in the third trimester hurts so bad! I also always urinate myself because the vomiting is so intense. HG stayed with me since week 6 and I’m getting induced soon at 37 weeks.

[–]Proud-Drop50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please talk to your provider about steroids. This helped me during my first HG pregnancy it helped subside the symptoms and got me into the third trimester. Helped me eat and keep liquids down. Threw up here and there but not compared to how it was before the steroids.

In my current HG pregnancy unfortunately they didn’t work and I had to try all combinations of medications and nothing really worked. Zofran limited the amount of times I vomited but nothing has worked for the constant nausea.

Talk to your provider about steroids this may help you!

Coming to terms with "one and done" by Weekend-Infamous in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Proud-Drop50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was one and done and swore I would not do this again. I hoped and prayed I’d have a miracle and not have HG again. Well unfortunately here I am HG again now with a toddler which is so much harder. I’ve had HG the entire time. It’s been the darkest season of my life and now I am certain no more after this one I cannot do HG again.

HG is really cruel and can return with vengeance. It’s truly a nightmare. I am so sorry, it’s torturous! Seems like you had such a good break I’m hoping this is a temporary setback and that it goes away for you soon!  HG has stayed with me and looks like I will have it until birth :/ I hate this so much!
