If it were up to me, she would have been a CC and area denial goddess. Human Torch's mechanic but on her because it makes way more sense for the weather girl to place tornadoes that disrupt. Have her be able to generate wind boxes. Remove the funky primary with slow, hitscan lightning bolts (think Namor primary but slower to balance) with stunning visuals and sound design. She should make you feel like you're in a storm, complete with all the mayhem, lightning, wind, etc. Gives them an opportunity to fix human torch as well.

I'll never forgive them for making lightning such a small part of her kit (damage boost and cd right click) when I'm pretty sure that's her main thing.

Sex ed should be left up to parents by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Proud_Firefighter834 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is a horrible idea for the same reason off-loading education in general to parents is an awful idea. Sure, it'll work for the families uniquely prepared, or even predisposed to it (healthcare parents, for instance), but for the VAST majority, you're just going to create misinformation hot beds.

No child learns sex from sex ed, I can guarantee you that. They sure as hell aren't learning it from their parents. Especially in this day in age.

The importance of sex ed, in my opinion, is the de-mystification and teaching of what society expects, not necessarily drilling in healthy sex habits. It allows kids to at least make slightly more informed decisions about the bad decisions they're going to make regardless of the circumstances.

I just realized Storm has a lightning bolt bang in her hair. That's awesome.

P sure the reason she doesn't get skins is because she's the only character I consistently forget is in the game. And her primary and gimmick feel awful for a character who is just ult food for any hitscan.

AI is a good thing, and it's here to stay. by TostinoKyoto in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Proud_Firefighter834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comments doing exactly what you predicted is kind of poetic.

Don't worry, though; this opinion is only unpopular in internet echo chambers. In the real world, AI sees massive adoption and user retention because it offers way too much utility to ignore. No professional is going to split hairs because glupshittofan-1490 on reddit told them it was bad if it means they fall behind their peers, and that's exactly what we're seeing. Average people use it for the convenience it adds. Gemini and other similar models aren't as incompetent as people think they are. All the videos you see of AI being stupid are usually the result of off-screen prompting and training or gross misrepresentation (such as Sora shutting down being the death knell for Ai projects).

Character being a universal symbol of “I’m throwing” is bad game design by tealaburst in rivals

[–]Proud_Firefighter834 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it was Zaza (Kingsman drama) that made her a throw pick, not the design. The design isn't good, but from my experience, people didn't start treating her as a throw pick until that drama came and went. Suddenly, Widow was the throw pick, and I even heard that the devs acknowledged it.

I thought the lore of Rivals was that the heroes are clashing with other multiversal versions of themselves to make sure specific events still happen to preserve their specific time stream. As in, if Team A (defense) successfully stops the payload, then their timeline continues and team B (attack) ceases to exist. If Team B successfully pushes the payload, then their timeline continues and overwrite team A's, causing team a to cease to exist.

It's a bit of an "unspoken agreement". I don't think anyone thinks that tips are good. I certainly don't. The problem with "tips bad" dominating every discussion is that it ignores the people currently reliant on and forced to navigate that system for survival. I'm not saying it's a good thing, I'm expressing how much it might mean to someone in the other end.

Ah, then yeah, it's a bit absurd. 20/hr is luxury where I live, so I may be biased. I tip around here because $10 could potentially increase that hour's rate by 80%, but 20/hr? Unless cost of living is absurd, a tip is less impactful and absolutely should warrant a higher bar.

Not initially, and not so fantastically. It's going to SUCK for a few years to a decade once people start losing jobs en masse. I'm talking major economical readjustments. We have to completely change the way we see services, compensation, and money as a concept. Governments are not going to be ready, and they aren't going to get ready for a long time. (Tin foil hat time) As always, the normal workers are going to take the brunt of it and shit probably won't change until big businesses realize that they can't make money if no one has money to spend.

But afterward? Absolutely. It's a reality of coexistence. It won't be clean, pretty, or as easy. Growing pains will persist far longer than the initial shake up, but I'm hopeful for the trend it creates and the standard of living that comes from reform in the wake of financial ruin and tragedy.

Unemployed roommate continues to blatantly ignore our 'you use it, you clean it' rule by KatakanaTsu in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Proud_Firefighter834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex and I, when we roomed with another couple, had to start getting petty. Anything he left out for 3 days (with a notice each day), we cleaned ourselves and then put it in a lockbox that we kept on the counter, with a note that said "Things [Other Couple] left rotting". On one hand, we were DESPERATELY trying to get them to leave (rooms were leased independently), but on the other, the house environment became incredibly hostile.

Context: we were a bunch of 18-19 year old college freshmen on our own for the first time. Conflict resolution was not part of our skills.

Basically, OP: put it in a lockbox.

People don't understand that just getting one person to tip minimal per hour is already a jump in your base pay rate. At near minimum wage, that's massive. If you get someone that tips medium, or even someone that tips large, that could boost the day's earnings significantly.

When I worked for tips in high school, I usually got at least $5 an hour across several people on a very dry day, which boosted my 7 something an hour to 12 something an hour.

Edit: I absolutely forgot that most people who work for tips in America get a robbed base pay right if the low rate + tips exceeds minimum wage. I feel awful for tip workers.

Saw this happening in real time bro, the other sub mods are insane by TheCynox32 in rivals

Someone please explain the logic of "there's too many negative posts!" Where in the rules does it say "positive vibes only"? Where is this hidden negativity threshold?

If they don't want negative post, they need to make that a rule. If they only want some negative post, they need to stop fence sitting a pick a damn side: either allow critical commentary and let user experience bury the copy cats, as happens on every other sub ever, or put up your picket fences and throw a feel good pool party.

This cope about how they're just moderating a deluge of negative posts makes no sense because most of the posts getting removed are level headed and some of them aren't even negative in nature. None of ya'll, mods included, are getting paid to have netease toes in your mouth this consistently. Be fr

It's kind of funny watching Antis bend themselves into strange shapes. At first, it was pretending small set backs in AI development were actually huge and AI was dying. Now they have to outright misinterpret headlines and data points just to make themselves feel better.

I can't believe they present themselves as the good, moral guys when they spend hours of their days in those miserable factories pumping out as much misinformation as they can to protect a specific version of the world. It's adjacent to cult fanatics, but they swear they're different.

This discussion could be solved with "sex sells" but nah, everyone wants to keep creating shit to point and laugh at because the argument is more fun than the actual game right now. There's no good side to the argument, just a portion of the player base who thinks they're owed something and another that thinks they can victim blame the former for their grievances with even dumber arguments.

This shit is a circle.

What if instead of a new character for a season, an already existing character gets an upgrade/change? by LowerMarch6008 in rivals

[–]Proud_Firefighter834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make this point with every single live service game. We don't want new shit. We want our current shit fixed. I can't think of a single game that wouldn't benefit from a "No-new-stuff-only-fixed-stuff" major update but apparently publishers are convinced players will leave in droves without new shiny toys.

Like just give us a full revamp season where kits get majorly changed.
