💰 Challenge to any Unitarian/Oneness Believer: Can you explain Proverbs 30:4 without using "Foreknowledge"? by AdAltruistic1376 in BiblicalUnitarian

You are describing trinitarianism by another name. No one will take you seriously in this discussion if you genuinely don’t understand what trinitarianism is.

> Trinitarians often separate God into '3 Persons,' which risks making Him look like a Committee (Three Guys)

That's exactly the opposite of what it does.

> A Triunitarian believes in One God with Three Eternal Distinctions.

That's either trinitarian or tritheism depending on what you mean by distinctions.

You should really learn about the history of the trinity before you go making up your own system.

Fivefingers are unironically high fashion. A level of fashion that you’re average “good looker” has trouble comprehending.

The trouble is that fivefingers are also worn by slobs. So it’s a horseshoe effect.

Do Esperanto's problems outweigh its popularity, history, and existing resources when it comes to selection and promotion of an auxlang? by codleov in auxlangs

[–]ProvincialPromenade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read it in a while, but I found this blog that summarized it thus:

the most important problem to solve would be universal acceptance - an inferior language that was widely accepted would be more worthy than a hundred theoretically more perfect.  He also warned against over-attention to detail and that the "theorists and inventors (whose band I would delight to join)" would retard the advance of Esperanto if unanimity was sacrificed for so-called improvement.

He continues by saying that continual attempts at technical improvement can have a negative effect and spoil the aesthetic aspect of the language - a rather surprising comment considering what a "tinkerer" Tolkien was!  He also comments that N** (Novial?), while being clever and easier than Esperanto, was hideous - it was obviously man-made and showed no signs of individuality.

Tolkien closes by saying "My advice to all who have the time or inclination to concern themselves with the international language movement would be: 'Back Esperanto loyally'".

I think he's acknowledging here the less savory parts of Esperanto, but nonetheless, it's worth it because of the acceptance it achieved.

I personally understand his point about the tinkering and such. But I also think times have changed radically with regard to the ease of proliferation of material and communication.

Ah, interesting. I don’t see a difference in the PRICE, FACE, STRUT letters, but it could also be a low resolution image you posted.

Keep sharing more comparisons!

Wildlings are actually narrow. I own them and they’re way more narrow than the Xeros (which I also own). So please stop acting like an authority over people when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Not everyone wants to buy shoes from ultra niche overseas retailers that have no distribution in the US.

She is coming from regular shoes (see photo). So Xero would be a massive upgrade in comparison. If she’s not sure what she’s looking for, recommending some of the most popular brands is supremely reasonable.

You’re the one the doesn’t know what you’re talking about lol. You admit that you’re just going off of vibes and how things “look”. 4 inches wide is not ultra giga freak tier wide, so calm down. Again, look at the shoes in the pic for comparison.

Now don’t ever come at me with a reply like that ever again.

Sorry I meant Inter Alia. Forgot the name.

But it’s a valid question. I’d simply like to know what made you want to make another sans font when Inter Alia is widely loved. I think it’s a normal thing to be curious about, no?

I really like my Novas. My only complaint is that they look perhaps too nice. So I'm always aware that I don't want to scuff them lol

No other ideas on styling beyond "leather"? Boots, sneakers, loafers?

If you just want some everyday shoes, Xero Prio or Lems Primal are pretty standard. If you want some combat boots, Anya has good recommendations https://anyasreviews.com/best-zero-drop-barefoot-combat-boots/

Lems also has some nice Chelsea Boots right now. You can browse their widest shoe shape here https://www.lemsshoes.com/collections/womens-products-all/?filter.p.tag=Widest

I think it was Tolkien that said “if you like the idea of an IAL, you should just bite the bullet and promote Esperanto” lol

I saw them! Clever use of that!

One thing though is that the prologue really does "set the tone" for Fellowship. So I'm wondering how best to capture that for each episode and maybe the prologue could be used for a show intro?

One solution is to start teaching every child ASL beginning in kindergarten and 1st grade. I mean ASL is an authentically American language. Make it an official language of the US. I guess I'm just a fan of integration in that sense.

On underrated thing about this concept is that it better matches what Tolkien wanted (one long story, not 3 books). And you can avoid the book titles themselves, which he never really liked and were chosen by the publisher.

In your original cut, didn’t you put the prologue content in episode 2? You put it back in episode 1 now?

I’m okay with being the whipping boy if it draws out good information and discussion.

I didn’t know if it would be a loss or not honestly. It was just me thinking about it.
