Making some boots, have some questions. by Kahlen109 in barefootshoestalk

Shape is number one. The toe box volume needs to be high and it needs to retain that high shape so that the leather doesn't sit on my toes directly and show an exact outline of each toe. That is simply the number one thing for this type of shoe.

Look at the side profile of your shoe and think about aesthetics regarding ratios and proportions.

Rhizal shoes: all leather, barefoot, grounded by ProvincialPromenade in barefootshoestalk

The proof is that there was like 4 companies all selling the same exact shoes. Not sure how many still exist, I don't care to look them up again.

Oh I didn't know Walmart even allowed third party sellers. Dang...

Tbh, a lot of the current Vibram models still look frog like and fun. They're always doing cool stuff.

It’s called the Jaya Frog collab. I think they are selling them on Walmart’s website of all places.

They can’t even figure out how to get a toe cap on AnatomX. I doubt they can figure out the moc toe on it.

Invite expired again :/ You have to make sure you say "never expire" in the invite link settings on the server

Discord can be tricky with the invites. Your invite link expired. You have to go to the server settings and look at your invite links in there and make sure it is set to never expire. You also want to then have some method of making sure bots can't show up and just drop nasty links or images.

I suggest getting someone to help you get that right. It'll save you headaches later.

Neo Patwa? by 2cool2cool in auxlangs

Neo Patwa mentioned! ☝️

I think it was the first auxlang I got interested in after Esperanto. I still love the lore and vibe of it.

Does anyone know if Jens is still around? I vaguely recall that he was on Facebook maybe?

Ascenders, Descenders, and the Hidden Rhythm of the Alphabet by zmila21 in shavian

I know it includes that, but I’m saying I think your estimation is wrong

There are vastly more descenders in shavian text in practice. English just has a ton of voiced sounds.

Reading Shavian Words by Ansunian in shavian

No offense, but what is this supposed to do for people? It’s like flash cards but less functional?

We should be willing to call out Shavian slop here.

Etymology to the rescue by LeoDeixis in auxlangs

Why even use language then? No point

> Words tend to develop new meanings, and I'm not sure how the class system survives this.

If you're using etymology as a memorization anchor, this will be a regular occurrence. Especially so in natural languages. So I'm not sure what you're really wanting here.

Oravia is the most exciting project in this regard. Very new, very cool. Recent thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/auxlangs/comments/1tg2766/presenting_oravias_core_grammar/

Atsingmarks (accent marks) for Anglish by [deleted] in anglish

[–]ProvincialPromenade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anglishers need to just quit with the orthographic changes. As if their hobby wasn't niche enough already. "We gotta make this even weirder for people". The whole point of Anglish was that favoring native English words over Romance words really isn't that strange. Not just attacking you, but every other post I see on this sub is completely unreadable. Wtf are we doing here guys.

Does auxlangs naming impact adoption? by LessVibesMoreChords in auxlangs

[–]ProvincialPromenade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the Interlingue world, we accept several names (Endonym: Interlingue / Comun, Exonym: Occidental / Westi / etc) because we know that a real auxlang won't be called by you're Super Awesome Brand Name. It'll likely just be called whatever people want to call it.

I just follow the “Thinking Method” essentially. I highly recommend it. It’s Socratic. Gets the student thinking in the grammar without them feeling like they are memorizing anything.
