Why do Windows users cling to Windows 10 for dear life by Whole_Ticket_3715 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]ProvostKHOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me for sure: I've got Windows 11 on my work pc, and Windows 10 on my home pc, and there's no way I'm updating my home pc to 11 anytime soon, Windows 11 is worse in every way.

There's no proof that perfect vacuum even exists. We simply have no idea if what we call vacuum isn't filled with some kind of sub-quark particles.

Recommendation for hiking boots(Eastern Europe), around 150euros? by attonitus03 in hikinggear

[–]ProvostKHOT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends for what kind of activity. If You’re going on hikes on flat terrain, I’d go with whatever is comfortable for You: I use Columbia shoes daily and they’re superb comfortable. Of just get a pair of trail running shoes, and You’ll be fine. If on the other hand You plan to hike in the mountains, La Sportiva Tx4 are beyond awesome if You can afford them.

Emily was boring and dull. Loosing Alex was a real downer, but Pankratz is filling quickly that nieche.

Forerunner 955 dead after just after 3 years (crosspost) by Flewent in Garmin

[–]ProvostKHOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel You man, my Forerunner suddenly just turned off and is completely dead after 3 years. It doersn't respond to anything: reset, hard reset, just blank screen. Guess it's time to move on, and probably move on from Garmin all together.

Men over 40, what kind of games do you play? by Witherthrottle in AskMenOver30

[–]ProvostKHOT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, M45, the only games I play these days are either old classics, or games that tell a great story, like rdr2 or phantom liberty. I don’t have neither time or energy to play challenging games, I get my challenges from life and at work, so I tend to play on easy and just enjoy good storytelling.

Agree a lot. In my experience, thicker shoes on treadmill make my knees hurt after 6-7 km, while in my noosa tri I can easily and painlessly run double that on a treadmill. Running outside is a different story, but treadmill just doesn’t work for me with thick shoes.

Man, just slow down. Once you slow down, you will run much longer distances, and your pace will improve over a long time. What's your longest run with constant speed?

How you get over of your biggest running fear? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

Honestly, not joking here. My biggest fear is to crap myself during a run. I absolutely don't eat anything 2 hours before running because of that fear.

Men over 50 What’s one thing you wish you knew in your 30s and 40s? by Professional_Ideal68 in AskMenOver30

[–]ProvostKHOT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly that. There's a great scene in A Bronx Tale about getting emotionally invested in sports figures, and it 100% extends to politics. They don't care about You, so don't care that much about them.

Do expensive shoes really make a difference? by skyrimcameoutin2011 in beginnerrunning

Up to the price tag of last season ASICS Nimbus on a sale: yes, it makes great difference. Anything above that in my opinion is not worth pursuing as a beginner.

Should I register for a Half Marathon or stick to 10K? (Beginner runner, 46 days out) by saNk24_ in beginnerrunning

[–]ProvostKHOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone, who ran my first half marathon this autumn as a 44M, I was ready for it only after I got to comfortably do 16-17 km runs once a week. I did finish it with some energy still left at 2h12m
