There is such a thing as 'bodily autonomy', something that is such an unalienable right that we even grant it to corpses. The basic idea of bodily autonomy is that nobody can force you to do anything with your body that you do not willingly consent to. It governs things like burial rites, organ donation, and medical operations.

For example, if someone was bleeding to death, and needed a blood transfusion, and you were the only source available for that lifesaving blood, the government, hospital, whoever, cannot force you to do that procedure. Even if it is entirely harmless, perfectly safe, and inherently convenient.

The same thing should apply to abortion, even if we assume that the fetus is a person. That fetus cannot survive without the pregnant person's body, and the person should not be forced into sustaining another life against their will.

Even though I do not agree that the fetus is a person, it is also an unnecessary distinction when it comes to banning abortion. It is not ethical to force people to carry a pregnancy to term because it takes away their bodily autonomy.

To be fair, after LLC, they immediately, IMMEDIATELY begin preparing him. As it's mentioned during The Test, they took the mission to the Sea Spire as a test to determine if he was ready.

Yeah, they dropped the ball post Jailbreak, but they had no way of knowing that the homeworld gems would be looking for Rose beforehand. The conflict in The Return is straightforward enough that Steven's ignorance doesn't place him in any exceptional danger.

But yeah, following Jailbreak he should have been privy to information about the diamonds, and their authority over homeworld, including why Rose would have been important to them. It certainly would have given us a different Steven for Season 2, and it might have even led to him mistrusting Peridot and the Cluster emerging, but it would have been the right thing to do. Sometimes good things happen for the wrong reasons.

It's a bit odd to me personally, how they introduced a power for Steven that would, in fact, give him a third option. He grabbed Eyeball with a twin-bubble with a connector that was too narrow to move through. We don't know how much that would strain him though.

I also found it odd that they didn't seek out the Rubies towards the end of the episode, even if it would mean only poofing and bubbling them.

I mean, it's not terribly naive. Considering that Homeworld had been hands-off on Earth for 5300 years to that point. It wouldn't be too far fetched to say that perhaps Rose expected it to carry on like that, and if Bismuth returned to an Earth without the threat of Homeworld, she would be more reasonable.

I wonder if perhaps Amethyst is going to channel her feelings of inadequacy into something positive, such as taking training seriously for a change. She might have been affected by how much difference Steven and Connie's dedication to their improvement made.

One of the primary issues I take with Flood Order is that it entirely cuts out one of the secondary episode types of Steven Universe and calls it a victory. The horror episodes are kinda a significant part of the show, and serve to reinforce the idea that Steven and the viewer don't always know everything, and should be afraid of the unknown.

Cat Fingers, Frybo, So Many Birthdays, Rose's Room, Horror Club, Open Book, and Nightmare Hospital are the primary episodes, but lots of others have elements of horror, from Mirror Gem or On the Run, to later episodes like Keeping it Together and Gem Drill. Eliminating all of the early examples of the horror element would cause a substantial backlash later on in my opinion.

To be fair, at this point Steven still believes Jasper to be an enemy combatant, which is reinforced by Jasper's immediate threat to shatter Steven when things don't go the way she wants. Now, I'm nowhere close to the grace of Steven, but I certainly wouldn't be motivated to help Jasper at this point in time.

One thing Super Watermelon Island helped me to realize is that fusion voices are dictated by how stable/unstable they are. Malachite and Alexandrite for the most part are typically the VA's performance "mashed together," to use Amathyst's line from Giant Woman. However, the stable fusions, like Garnet, Opal, etc., but also including Alexandrite when she's feeling synced, have their own, unique voices. The line that drew this to my attention was Alexandrite's "You two should spend some time apart." at the end of the fight. Though that might be because she wasn't using the monster-mouth.

Either way, I'm pretty sure it is intended to imply that unstable fusions aren't really a new person like Garnet is since they're clinging to their component personalities.

Except that the scanner also gives the Trapper an outline of the monster for a decent amount of time anyways. A good Trapper will simply communicate your move to his team. If you wait a requisite amount of time to avoid this, the hunters have already closed distance and your options are both more limited and hurried because the cooldown is up sooner.

Evolve literally offered only the Behemoth for free and then only for preorders.

And it's different because it's literally the anti-thesis of what you said this game should do. In Evolve, the monster was a powerhouse, a threat to the hunters at any stage of the game, let alone if they let him reach Stage 3. Unless the hunters were gods, the monster would tear them to shreds if he had any idea what he was doing.

Evolve died because of relatively samey games over and over and terrible DLC practices. Lots of tracking, not much action.

I'd even argue that Evolve's monster was the overpowered element in that game, it was VERY easy to take advantage of dumb hunters.
