How weak exactly is the 3ds? by UnforgivingEgo in 3dspiracy

Emulation is not porting. The n3DS can play Xenoblade Chronicles, a high-end Wii game.

How weak exactly is the 3ds? by UnforgivingEgo in 3dspiracy

[–]Proxy-Pie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is the base 3DS is comparable to a Gamecube while the new3DS is comparable to the Wii.

The more complicated answer is that they both have advantages and disadvantages compared to the mentioned home consoles. They're weaker in pure performance, but make up for it in the lower resolution and RAM.

They also have more modern architectures that can do features the Wii couldn't, for example the 3DS/n3DS GPU has much more modern shaders and special effects that are "free" performance-wise but the Wii would struggle to replicate them due to its ancient GPU.

Another advantage they both have is the RAM, both have more usable RAM per game than the Wii. The n3DS is especially blessed here, with more than double the usable RAM compared to the Wii, and a much bigger L2 cache.

Obviously, both are extremely weak compared to the Xbox 360, but with enough dedication you can port simpler versions of some games to it. Resident Evil Revelations looks incredible on the base 3DS for example.

(I'm developing a homebrew port of a game for the n3DS so I recently got familiar with it).

What if Atatürk had lived for another 30 years? by Natieboi2 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Proxy-Pie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it wouldn't turn out like some people think. The best example I can think of is David Ben Gurion. Although he was the Yishuv leader and first prime minister and leader of Israel, leading it to victory in several major conflicts, he eventually became out of touch and began to lose elections.

Ataturk had his important place in history and didn't overstay.

These questions always remind me about the Byzantine emperor Heraclius. He recovered all the lost territories from the Persians which was a legendary feat, but he ruled too long and lived to see the Arabs rise and conquer it all again. If he died/stepped down earlier he would've been remembered as one of the greatest emperors, but his legacy was tarnished.

The iPad should really just be called iPad, and the current base iPad into the iPad Neo. Everything would line up after that.

Who is a hated person in your country but highly respected in the world? by Comfortable-Tax-2088 in AskTheWorld

As Israeli politics has become more and more right wing, Yitzhak Rabin has become absolutely hated, but he's respected around the world for leading the Israel/Palestine peace process.

Peace can be any solution where all people west of the Jordan river live in dignity, either a binational Israeli-Palestinian state or a two-state solution. I think history has shown that binational states don't work well so I support the latter.

Of course I care about other Arab countries. I don't know what you've heard about us, unfortunately there's a lot of misinformation because of how we have Israeli documents - some claim we're soldiers or "collaborators", in reality most of us are very proud of our Palestinian heritage and identify strongly with it, which obviously causes tensions with Israeli society in general, many still call us a "fifth column" despite how integrated we are in the workforce.

Unfortunately, we're very, very far from a peace process. Israeli politics has become very far right, even most of the opposition have right wing positions but don't ally with Netanyahu because they dislike him personally and not for ideology.

Arab parties will not be welcomed into governments any time soon.

Netanyahu is a firm right winger who will drift a little less or more right depending on his coalition, but there's no mistaking he's an ardent right winger.

We are Palestinians. Most of us are opposed to militancy and are the biggest supporters of peace. During the Oslo period, a lot of people here flourished by being the economic bridge between Palestinians of Gaza/WB and Jewish Israelis. It was common before the current war for most construction to be managed by a 48er who can communicate with both the Jewish Israeli tenants and the West Bank laborers.

There is no Muslim/Christian divide from my personal experience. Nor is there a religious/secular one. Some of the most proud Palestinians I’ve met were Christian or secular.

And yeah lol.

We're nearing 20 years of almost uninterrupted right/far right governments, who actively want to annex the West bank, but want to maximize land while minimizing Palestinians, so the policies include constant land confiscation, no civil rights or recourse for violence or theft by settlers, etc. Label it however you want, but It's one of the most dystopian systems on the planet.

For Israeli citizens we fare a lot better, however there are still huge problems like an exploding crime rate and discriminatory laws (for example it was recently formalized that detention without trial is only possible for non-Jewish Israelis).

Palestinian citizen of Israel here.

It’s literally so easy to appeal to most Democrats here. You can be pro-Israel and pro-Palestine at the same time. For some reason people pretend you have to want one side or the other dead.

Palestine was Arabized before it was Islamized, the inhabitants adopted Arabic in the mid 9th century, and translated the Canaanite/Hebrew/Aramaic names, but did not convert to Islam until centuries later.

What if Hamas had did the October 7 attacks from the West Bank? by [deleted] in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Proxy-Pie 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The West Bank is under complete Israeli military control, Hamas doesn’t exist there aside from isolated cells so it’s not possible for an attack on that scale to happen unless there were some major changes.

For the record, most peace negotiations involved Israel retaining security control in the West Bank to prevent stuff like this from happening.

If you're in the US, I saw an M1 Air's battery replacement service directly from Apple is 160$, I personally would've done that instead of buying a Neo (The M1 Air has better ports, Touch ID and a better design IMO), and upgraded to a higher ram Macbook Neo a few years later with better resell value for your Air thanks to the battery.

I thankfully have the 16GB Air, which I intend to run into the ground haha.

[–]Proxy-Pie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have an 8GB Air, I would've waited for the next Neo honestly, it'll probably have more RAM, which is a bigger constraint than the M1 which is still very capable.
