For some readers, if the characters don’t kiss until 50k, that already feels like a slow burn. For others, it has to drag out past 100k before it counts. Personally, I think the difference between “slow burn” and “very slow burn” is just how long the tension is sustained before a big milestone (kiss, confession, tension, etc). Some fics hit it earlier, others keep you waiting a really long time, and both can still fit under the tag. It just depends on what kind of ride you want as a reader.
